    Re: Standalone CNC Lathe Controller

Which one did you get. Does it do mill and lathe functions.

Looking at them online it seems to me that you can get them for either a lathe or mill but not both.

    Please tell me I'm wrong.

    Re: When will "acorn" release?

I was seriously considering the Acorn controller But then I saw that I would have to buy the ultimate software for lathe and mill at $ 499.00 each , that's to much for a hobby.

    I'll have to look...

  9. Re: Any User Input?? - Hind Technologies / Masso HTG5A1S Controller

If they made it usable for a mill and lathe more would be interested. Having to install different software to use it on a lathe is not something people are interested in.

    Re: Chinese "standalone" CNC controller

So you spend another $ 600.00 or so to have a controller for your lathe. Now you are at around $ 1300.00 plus shipping and before you know you are at $ 1500.00.

Unfortunately none of the units mentioned here have a Lathe Mode, so how will you do thread cutting with any of them. They seem to be useful for milling machines and routers only.

    Re: Standalone CNC Lathe Controller

Make sure that you can do threading with this controller. Many stand alone controllers don't. In that case what good is it?

Bigger steppers might do it but you need the right drivers for them.
