    Re: Momus Inspired Build Log

Sry for the delayed update but I have been pretty busy. I actually stop designing this as I came across a used Ooznest OX CNC kit and have been working on getting it setup over the past few months...

    Re: Bolted steel frame router

That looks awesome :). I'm thinking of using steel as well, can you list the size of bars you used at each section? I have never welded before that's why i'l looking to bolt everything together :)

    Re: Momus Inspired Build Log

Really no need to go that big for a frame. I'll probably use 3"x3" for the posted and something similar for the gantry but framing all in 4"x4" would just ad unneeded weight IMO.

    Re: Momus Inspired Build Log

I'll draft one up in the next few days with steel, probably use 1"x3" rectangle steel tubes for the frame and 1"x1" for the bed. I'll post when completed :)

    Re: Momus Inspired Build Log

Well after pricing this new base out I think I'm going to re-think this. The base alone (without the gantry) is about $1600CAD + shipping which is a little nuts IMO. I'm thinking about drafting a...

    Re: Momus Inspired Build Log

I have revisited my design and realized that It was extremely to big (wanted 4x4 cut area and it was more like 4'x6') and down sized it so I'll have a 3'x3' cut area (probably a little more) with...

I'd had done that so I could have another 3"x3" support in the center for the gantry load. I thought about just framing in 1.5"x3" but was unsure if it would be ridgid enough considering the 7' span....

    Momus Inspired Build Log

I'm currently in the design phase of my CNC and its loosely based on the Momus design as I really like the sunken bed. I'll be drafting the design using AutoCad and the slowly purchase/build it over...
  9. Poll: Re: Ballscrews and linear rail Xaxis - Dual or Single drive?

    Hey,
I'm currently designing a 2 x axis motor design. Does anyone have a picture of the motors belted together? I plan on using 4 rails for the X (one set for each side) which each set having...
  10. Re: Looking to design a CNC based on Momus, got a few questions

Cool stuff :) i'm sure mine is going to take a few years, If you got a photo I would love to see it. I'm about 1/3 of the way done CAD'ing my machine (took awhile learning the basic CAD commands),...

I'll be sure to post it :). Got any pic's of your machine? is there a thread on here of it?

Thanks for the warm welcome :).

My main goals are to produce a CNC machine that I can use to CNC wood, aluminum and acrylic with as much accuracy as possible. I have plans on making computer mods...

Have you tried eBay? I plan on buying a lot of my part on there.
  14. Looking to design a CNC based on Momus, got a few questions

    Hey,
Just recently I started looking into building a CNC machine so that I can route wood/aluminum. After looking at all the other types of CNC machine I really like the design concepts of Momus...
