Rhinocam seems to be working for me so far... although Ive only run generated G code while my linux box wasn't driving the actual machine. Axis only spit out a couple of complaints in the 32000 line...

You can make your own joining/mounting plates out of aluminum plate. I would at least grab the t nuts that slide into the extrusion slot from 8020 and use those in order to make life easier. Easiest...
Its tough to get a really rigid machine out of mdf.
Can you post some closeups of your machine? perhaps you can toughen it up by fastening some metal rail to the flexing parts.

They are NSK rails... Ill have to check the model number, but I think they are HSR30s. They are totally overkill for this machine, but the price was right on ebay.
