Actually, No I haven't.
I had an incident that frustrated me and hindered my progress (that will be revealed in the videos). I'm about to start up my Youtube Channel and will be using the retrofit...
The software will run, but you will have timing problems communicating with the machine. After Win 98 the OS had control of the parallel port timing not the software. This causes lots of issues with...
Epilog.....best customer service. Also built in the US.
The DIN rails are mounted, as well as the wire tracks. Now I must some drills and taps to mount the last few items ( small power supply, VFD, and Stepper drivers) . Then the backplane can go back in...
I'm wondering if I could just gut mine and put hybrid ceramic bearings inside of it. Would be some money, but may be worth it.

So, after some interesting events in my life, I finally got around to working on the re-control of the PC 50 Mill. I removed the backplane of the control box, and started laying out new components as...
I stand corrected.....I'll stick to ethernet connections.
Thanks for the education,
James L
Let me explain why I asked;
Any Windows operating system after 98 doesn't give the parallel port priority with relation to time. Hence why many systems have moved away from the parallel port. The...
What operating system???
For me, and only for me, expand-ability is the key. Being leashed to a 2001 proprietary system, that is a problem, for me. With new controls the limitation would be the upgrading of the software...
I know you are trying to get rid of this machine, and I would love to have it, but I have a pretty serious question.
Why? Why must you use path pilot?
Your asking price is too high to justify...
So during my hiatus from machine building, I've changed my path just a small amount. Unfortunately the costs are not as small. Instead of mounting a new servo for the spindle(which I have already...
Yes, you must have a daughter card. Good luck. If you find one they are extremely overpriced.

Should you want a picture I have posted earlier, I can repost. But this thread will continue. Sorry about the images that will never show up again.
As a side note. I will never hesitate to buy...
So I have been sidetracked due to the season. Yes between mowing the grass, trimming the hedges, and working on our boat (two months), I just haven't had time to work on the retrofit.
It did take...

Well, it looks as if photobucket has gone to a paid system, which I will not be extorted.
I will try to re do my post with pictures from somewhere else.
James L
I've been sidetracked for a while. My parts got lost in shipment from Poland, and the manufacturer and myself have worked hard to get the parts to me (actually twice).
To answer your questions:
...
You need to check on the Yahoo groups for the Emco CNC machines. One of them have the older software.
James L
Oh, yep, it is a servo drive. I didn't realize Gecko were building servo drives as well. Haven't looked at their product line lately.
James L
That is a true DC servo. The Gecko is designed for stepper motors. You will need a DC servo driver for that servo.
James L
I'm cheering for you. Glad you are getting results that you want. I'm playing the waiting game, parts are on the way from Poland. I hate waiting.
James L
Nice, glad you made it to your destination.
James L
I have no idea if you ever fixed this problem.
I would think that the power supply for your stepper motors has failed.
James L
Hello Dave,
Sorry, I really do not know at this point. Maybe someone familiar with the laser will chine in, and be able to help.
James L
Dave,
Do you have any other drivers or are the motors directly wired to the controller? I don't know your setup, so I'm working from the strict math.
Also looking at the RDWorks manual, it...
I read the specs on the RDC6442G controller, are you exceeding the 500 KHz of the controller?
How many pulses does your motor take to travel 800 mm? If it is over 500,000, it will never let you go...
So far the retrofit has been going as I expected, but I have hit a small problem, and a huge irritation I'll expand upon at the end.
The problem first: I don't have any manual machines, so I must...
Nice book,
USD prices would be nice.
James L
you calculate steps by:
steps for full rotation of motor X pulley reduction (if any) X Threads per inch X microstep setting.
So, for example, you have a 200 step motor X 2 to 1 reduction X 5...
