I’m happy so far with my low cost option.
What did the drive cost?
Don’t limit yourself to 220 v motors only.
You’ll be much better off getting a three phase motor and a variable frequency drive.
Although the spindle bearings on the X3 may not do very well...
I found a 2hp 3ph motor locally for under $100 that was still in packaging from factory.
I have it mounted, and once I get the VFD I have ordered, I’ll power up and see how it cuts.
I know...
Looks like just Y axis is reversed
Try checking dir low/active for the Y axis only, restart mach3 and see if that works

Got a quote today from Bardac drives which is apparently the company that interdrive sent me to in the States.
for $700 for the drive and $180 for their fuse kit, I can't justify dumping that much...
Thank you, its always nice to hear from someone who is running the same motor with a specific drive.
Did the documentation with the drive make it fairly straightforward to wire it up, or was...
thanks for the Lead, do you know if they ship to the US?
also which drive do you think would work with this motor?
I am not that familiar with sizing a drive for a PM DC motor, so I could use...
The dm4400m that I am retrofitting has a spindle motor that I’d like to salvage if possible.
It appears to be a DC servo drive motor
180vdc with 11nm stall torque per the label.
It says...
I just ordered DMM AC servos, going to be less expensive to build it this way from the start, than to go back and rebuild it later.
Mactec, it sounds like your pretty deep into DMM motors and sold on their benefits.
as a home hobby guy, I am still having difficulty with spending over $2000 on 3 motors when I still have to...
Thanks for the input on the air blast, it makes sense.
The spindle I was replacing did not have to be pressed out, but it did require percussive persuasion to get part of the old 95mm diameter...
So I bought a piece of metal tubing that was pretty close to the correct dimensions and used my shop fox 1099 lathe to dimension the inside of the tubing to 90mm then when turning the outside I left...
Why is 2500ppr not suitable? How does it compare to the 16 bit single turn absolute encoder on the DMM?
Where are DMM made, I believe they are sold out of Canada but I assumed like most things...
just for the sake of whomever reads this thread later on, as of today 15 Aug 2021
DMM servos
to get 2 1Kw motors and drivers as well as one 1.3kw motor and driver directly from DMM would be...
I got a used dm4400m a few weeks ago and am planning a retrofit to new motors and controls.
My first sticking point was the spindle that I got with the machine was not the original it may have...
Even drawings to make something would be appreciated
The Lagun FT-1 that I have is very similar to a Bridgeport, but has lots of metric parts and slight differences enough to make fitting things like power feed a challenge.
I see lots of ball screw...
Do you have any pictures of the motors, I have a dm4400 and am interested in what they look like.

I installed acorn on a router and wasn’t happy with it, it seems much more designed for milling type operations than router.
I switched that machine to an AXBB-e and UCCNC and I’m pretty happy...
For my dm4400m I had to pull the belts and measure them, then order replacements based on those measurements.
From what I can tell almost all the mechanical components of these machines are...
I have 2 Mitsubishi HA40CS ac servos that are apparently 2000rpm 750w to1Kw motors
and one HA80CS thats probably a 1.5kw to 2kw motor.
these are from a dyna mechtronics dm4400m with mitsubishi...
The gecko 320x is apparently a pretty bulletproof and popular option for DC servos
What is available for AC servos that is similarly bulletproof and has lots of support?
I have some AC servos...
Where were you 2 years ago when I was looking for a way to drive the servos on my plasmacam trash heap?
I couldn’t find anyone that had successfully reused their motors so I pulled them off and...
Bill South, I tried to PM you but your inbasket is full and it won't let me send it.
Dazp
these are belt drive with a 1:1 ratio
I am probably going to try to bore out the pulleys that I have...
Jim,
Thank you for the definition of servo.
I’m using servo interchangeabley with AC servo, and probably should be more specific.

I just checked another calculator online, and the 30kg-cm and 60kg-cm respectively came back as about 3 and 6Nm
So that would put the above advice of 1kW ac servo for x and y as well as 1.8kW for...
What makes you say replace the ha40cs with the 1.8kW?
I was just looking at the 1kW and it says it’s rated at 4nm which is a little higher than the 2.94nm that the HA40cs rates as it’s stall...
Thank you , I’m still trying to wrap my head around wiring differences between steppers and servos.
Are there any good videos that you can recommend on the basics of wiring servos to either Mach3...
