    Re: Parallel Port Next Steps?

    Windows 7 is not dead.

32 bit OS's will be around for a very long time still..

Just because something is old does not make it bad. XP still has its place, same with win 7 and all other...

    Re: Proper Table Vacuum Pressure

You could have a leak or your filters are dirty. There could be more to this story tho.

Its been a while since I posted on here. Things have been a bit crazy for me lately, i will spare everyone from the details of that. Moving forward, I have been using the machine for the last 9...

1/2 inch mdf single pass with a 1/4 inch compression @ 160 ipm

    I use Centurion tools.

Both of these give IMO the best feed rate...
  7. Re: Spindle: Air vs water cooled - current situation?

Without the pump im sure the engine would overheat. The flow rate would be very small without a pump. Its like having a heatsink without a fan. The fan makes the heatsink more efficient.
  8. Build Log - Demon 56x65" Xzero CNC - Vacuum Hold down table -

This is my second machine purchased from Xzero CNC. You cant beat the price and quality of these machine frames. Everything is solid 1 " 6061 aluminum and machined to extremely tight tolerances. ...

This part of the problem when you buy something from the Chinese market. They usually leave you guessing because the documentation is not provided or is not available.

    Re: Question about linear bearings

I have been running my machine for over 3 years now with SBR16 and SBR20 supported linear rails with no problems. I cut MDF with a Vac head 3 times a week. The rails are the least of your worries.

Re: My homemade brushless spindle v2

I would be interested to know how well it works. Whats the TIR? What is the usable Min/Max RPMS?

How did you couple the motor shaft to the collet shaft?

    Re: Spindle HP Advice

The 'wasted material' becomes less of an issue when you consider deflection. A 1/4 inch bit will most likely break under those loads. You could always take 2 passes at the disks using a 1/4 inch...

    Re: Spindle HP Advice

Well. 7.5HP would do the job but at a slower feed/spinde speed. If you want maximum feed rates(providing your machine rigidity is there) then go for the 11HP.

The question is not if a 7.5hp...

    Re: Grounding Dust Collection

Some like to run a bare wire through the length of the hose. I used the aluminum tape on the inside of my dustboot and grounded that to the cnc frame.
  17. Re: Drilling Aluminum / cutting - Feed rates and RPM - Can't keep braking bits =(

The run-out on a typical router with standard collets is pretty terrible. I cut T6061 with 1/4 and 1/8th inch endmills at 0.5mm depth 9,000rpms @ 50 IPM. I use the 'stardust' bits from PCT...

If I started out fresh again I would buy a spindle and a VFD. 3hp or more.

I would stay in the 50ipm range. You need to go slow with pcb's, The only time you should start to consider going faster is when you have a precision spindle capable of over 40k rpms.

No. This is not the solution. The bottom bearing must float as it is. What you need to do is prevent the shaft of the ball screw from sliding in and out of the top bearing.

Do not rely on the motor holding your ball screw from moving. You may still have an issue with the shaft diameter and the bearing itself.
