Re: Retrofit of an EMCO 120 CNC lathe

Yes I have a separate home for each axis and a single limit for each axis.

On mine the limits are triggered at either end so act as both positive and negative for that axis. The control knows...

Re: Retrofit of an EMCO 120 CNC lathe

I am not sure either, there doesn't really seem to be much information on the actual differences between TDC and TDB controllers. I have the TDC and it has CN13 socket for feedback and I was lead to...

Re: Retrofit of an EMCO 120 CNC lathe

As has been said, scales only if you want. They won't actually get used for closing the loop, they will just provide feedback for out of position monitoring and errors. Does your control support them...

Re: Retrofit of an EMCO 120 CNC lathe

Thanks for the reply, yes that is eventually how we figured out things worked.
It is a bit of a nuisance for him as he has a knee mill so the table height is constantly changing, that is not an...

I have a friend who has recently bought an SZGH control for his mill and is having trouble setting up tool offsets. I think you said you had one for a mill and was wondering if you had any...

Re: Chinese stand alone controller weird Z issue

The controls are very accurate or at least mine is. Mine is a different model, CNC1000TdC, and is a Lathe version.

Re: Retrofit of an EMCO 120 CNC lathe

Just thought I would chime in again to say the SZGH is running great for me. I miss a few things such as inability to name tools in the tooltable, but I do have the wireless USB working well.
    A...

Re: Possible cause for shaft failure?

I have just looked at youtube and I posted the video of the first ever job I ran on the Chiron and that video was posted April 2013 so the motor had snapped prior to that so my recollection was...

Re: Possible cause for shaft failure?

The motor was not out of alignment or at least not to any detectable amount. Also the motor connects to the ballscrew via a belt so slight misalignment shouldn't really have been an issue.
    This is...

Re: Possible cause for shaft failure?

It was a servo motor on the Z axis of a Chiron FZ12S VMC I retrofitted.

Re: Adtech 9640 and "elastic" tapping?

Just to tidy up this post.
The control went back to Adtech UK and they tried to get it working with, I believe, several software updates from China but it never worked properly.
    To Adtech Uk's...

Modern day AC servos are almost plug and play.
I have older Allen Bradley DSD drives on a few of my machines (big lathe, plasma and Beaver mill), the Auto Tuning was a hit or miss and even then ...

Another update, sadly I was mistaken. I thought my friend had said the tapping was working but what he meant was that the update worked. The tapping itself seems marginally better in the respect that...

Re: Adtech 9640 and "elastic" tapping?

Ok just in case anyone runs into similar issues with this controller it seems that it was software related. Adtech China have sent a file for my friend to load into the control to update it and he...

    Adtech 9640 and "elastic" tapping?

Does anyone have an Adtech 9640 and has done what Adtech call elastic tapping?
A friend of mine recently purchased the aforementioned control and after a fair bit of work he has got it mostly...

    Re: Optimum MH25V

It would depend on how your tool change works. If it requires Step/Direction signals then I think it would use up an axis. If it just needs signals to rotate via relays (for direction) and other...

Re: Retrofit of an EMCO 120 CNC lathe

Yes I had seen that as well. I had been looking at the Sandisk wifi stick but seems you can only transfer via wifi when it is not connected but during my searching I did see the Pi info.

Re: Retrofit of an EMCO 120 CNC lathe

I have never really had issues with Mach3 and it runs my Chiron, Beaver Mill and Plasma very well indeed. The lathe side of Mach3 works pretty well but there are a few things it does not do, one is...

Re: Retrofit of an EMCO 120 CNC lathe

Re: Retrofit of an EMCO 120 CNC lathe

I think the CNC1000 has a faster processor, more memory and more I/O but likely the software is the same.

I have been messing around with the control at home and working out quite a lot of things....

Re: Retrofit of an EMCO 120 CNC lathe

Looking forward to seeing how you get on with the controller. I recently bought the CNC1000TDC from SZGHAuto. I have not had a chance to connect it all up yet as I am busy and need the lathe to do...
