I am using fine cut tips as well, but can use them on up to 1/8" steel. I use the fine cuts for detail and on the larger parts(size wise less detail) I use 60 amp tips from 1/8" to 3/8"...

3/16 (60amp consumable)
THV: 132/133
IPM range: 70 to 95
Optimal IPM: 80
Machine amps: 60
Pierce height: 3/16
Peirce delay: .25 seconds

the highest i have ever run voltage wise was 132 and that was for 3/8's steel....great cut..hardly a kerf and any slag....i would imagine running at 142 would toast tips....ill have to see what...
