Before I chuck these up on eBay and see what I get for them I thought I'd try here.
Bought these for a project and they have sat in the workshop for a few years. Circumstances have changed and...
I've not really been discouraged, just distracted ;) I've had a customer ask me to build him something fairly simple with steppers / belts etc and it has renewed my interest in getting it all...
Looking good :) I've just resurrected my old project that I started years ago and didn't get round to finishing. Give me another 5 or 6 years and I might have it doing something lol.
Very nice :)
I built this around the parts I could get my hands on at the time.
The shafting and bearings were 16mm and quite a length so flex towards the middle if I had a moving gantry would have been a...
I'd route out those holes to a slot to match the vents on the router personally.
You might find that the whole cooling system of the router depends on proper ventilation through the bottom slots....
How much current are you drawing from it ? At 35amps the 21000uf capacitor is going to struggle to smooth the power supply at all.
You can add more 21000uf capacitors in parallel with the...
Will drop you a PM in a minute :)
I won't be going near a Post Office until after the new year though so if you want to hang on till then and send me the money through then I will get to the PO...
Forgot to say - it works out at around £8 for a pair of couplers and 1 torque disc so around £1.50-£2 cheaper than RS per axis set.
I got mine from Farnell
The couplers were these:

The torque discs were these:...
I've got some Oldham couplers I can sell you for a reasonable price if you are interested - bought a few spare when I got mine.
6.35mm (1/4") shaft if you're interested.
24v is the loaded output - at no load they will be at around 30v
I'm suprised you didnt take the easy route and get B&Q to cut your MDF for you ;) I managed around .25mm accuracy from my local B&Q...
$300 PCM for 600 sq/ft is a rather good price :)
Round here you're looking at around $10/sqft per year plus any business rates that may be due. Our family has an industrial estate in London and...
Of that I have absolutely no doubt :D
On a more serious note - thats going to be a fantastic monster of a router when its finished.
Oh to have the space to do something like that.
P.s my missus has got bigger chest muscles than your missus ;) :p
I built my shop from scratch (timber shop) - not very big at around 200 sqft but took me 6 months to build and finish (including satellite TV, aircon and internet access).
On the day I finished I...
Still trying to get the time to finish my machine off :(
Its 90% done but every time I put some time aside to get the Z axis finished and some custom drivers built someone rings me offering me...
p.s. I program exclusively in ASM - never quite got into C but for front end software on the PC I can botch my way through VB.
I mainly build stuff for cars.
I'm currently working on an intelligent relay driver and fan controller - unfortunately summer holidays means I have to look after the kiddie so I cant get a lot of...
I know what you mean about making mistakes.
I mounted the stepper for the Y Axis on the wrong side of the machine so it will now have to sit on the opposite workbench it was intended to sit on.
...
Looking good :D
I'm just working on the electronics for mine at the moment but it moved under its own steam for the first time today :D
Now I got a bit bored of cutting up MDF and as the motors were now mounted I thought I'd have a bit of fun and try and get the motors moving the x and y axis before I did anything else.
I vaguely...
Next for mounting the stepper motors.
I had some great plans for these but ended up using a couple of M10x100 bolts and botching it together to see how it held. It was suprisingly rigid so I've...
Homemade nut housing - the first one is shown in the picture. I cut out a weird shape, packed it full of polymorph plastic and a nut and centered it with some 10mm rod before it all set.
The...
Ok - been a while since I've updated this thread - I had to have a week off for decorating and other things.
Next I made some bearing blocks to hold the 6000 type bearings I got off Ebay
...
I've been considering doing something like this for my cheapo mdf router build. I'm planning on using the encoder wheels and sensors out of cheap (<£0.50) mice though with PIC microcontrollers for...
Well got the X Axis table moving today - I used a length of stainless allthread and an M10 nut housed in some MDF held rigid by some polymorph. Lined everything up and it seems to be pretty freely...
Hi Kammo1
I'm in Wellingborough, Northants.
I designed the machine from scratch (probably not a fantastic idea) but its something I've been wanting to do for a long time and I wanted everything...
A quick trip to McDonalds then Screwfix later I came home with the bits they missed off my order last time plus some M6 bolts for mounting the gantry to the base. I've used 4 x M6x60mm bolts either...
Time to screw the side plates to the Y axis - no major disasters here and it all went together rather nicely.
