We built a 5’x10’ cnc from a buildyourcnc kit in 2016. First it’s made of MDO not MDF. MDO is more rigid and stable. However the wood frame we built is not flat, due to moving and warping, which is...

Re: Machine Accuracy Issues PRO4824 Mach3

Thanks - these are great guidelines! I did have it within a few thousandths of an inch in the beginning. If we can be in 1/64th I'd somewhat happy. Will let you know after some research tomorrow.

Re: Machine Accuracy Issues PRO4824 Mach3

I appreciate your advice! Thanks for taking the time.

Here's a video of the CNC in action.

I don't have a vacuum table, so since we're cutting small parts I brad nail both the 4'x8' sheet, as...

Re: Machine Accuracy Issues PRO4824 Mach3

I'll check tomorrow and get back to you. The curious thing is that Friday it was cutting out of square. I can't figure out how it's doing that! Thinking the spindle has some play in it.

Re: Machine Accuracy Issues PRO4824 Mach3

I currently have NEMA 34 Stepping Motors, and generally run about 18,500 rpm at a feed rate of 115 for the rough cut and 120 for the finish cut with a 1/4" 2 fluted compression bit. Generally...

Re: Best designs or DIY kits under $4k

There are some really cool templates you can cut directly from a wood CNC, using 1/4" plywood. Basically, each section has 1/4" holes every 10" or so. You zip tie the pieces together, using ordinary...

Re: Machine Accuracy Issues PRO4824 Mach3

Yes - the g-code said one thing and the Mach3 readout said something else - like the actual position was compromised. I put a new motor in, but believe this was caused by a slipping set screw that...

Re: Machine Accuracy Issues PRO4824 Mach3

I researched these diy CNCs a long time before purchasing one. It's entirely made of wood - MDF and a wood base, and about $20k cheaper than leading brands. The thing I liked is that I could have a...

Re: Machine Accuracy Issues PRO4824 Mach3

I ended up putting a new motor in, which worked well. Noticed the set screw was in the wrong position (not the flat side of the nema motor) so that was probably the culprit. While I was that far, I...

Re: need help, nema 23 sstepper motors

I had that same problem with my Y axis. It ended up being the driver's motor in the computer. Once I replaced it in the computer box and rewired to the existing motor the sound was fine. The way you...

Re: Machine Accuracy Issues PRO4824 Mach3

My CNC is doing the same thing with Mach3. Once calibrated, it will immediately throw itself out of calibration from cutting or even verifying calibration. This is affecting the X axis only.

    I've...

Did you have any luck finding this for mach3? I'm searching for it myself.
