Got side tracked finishing a motorcycle build I had started before the mill conversion, got it finished and now back to work.
Thanks, I just play it off that I do, conventional machinist for about 35/40 years, last 20 as a serious hobbist, figured the best way to learn cnc was to make my own.

Jake,
I bought the servos as a package, if the 750 isn't big enough I will just gear it down a bit, if not I will get a bigger one I guess.
I got side tracked working on the bikes, need to get...
Moto Tech,
Sorry I didn't post these earlier, I had them covered and pushed out of the way to work on the mill.
Here is my version of bikes, they are a bit out of vogue......like I give a $h!t...
Yes for both
I will be taking everything apart to start on the enclosure base that goes under the machine and on top of the base soon, I will post some pics of the Y axis nut holder.

31-1/2 total X axis travel hard stop to hard stop after the proximity sensors are set it will be about 31" maybe a bit shy of that, but a good usable 30" for long light stuff. I made the float...
More to follow, working on roughing out the float side, and so on. Got my one shot oiler in, gonna be planning that mess out too.
I built in a spot for the proximity sensor, it should stop 5mm before the hard stop. Hope it works okay there, supposed to react to ferrous metals, hope the aluminum shielding it doesn't screw up the...
Started out at 21lbs, ended up at 6.5lbs. I whittled away at it and ended up with this.
As you can see I built in a hard stop.
Well I bought me a big a$$ chunk of aluminum to make the extensions for the over length screw I got so I can overdrive my table 5 inches on each side, that doesn't of course mean I get 10" extra X...
As long as it stays FUN, this is my early present to myself for doing 25yrs at my job and retiring ( I am 2 yrs out) I wanna be up and running and know my stuff before I retire for the second time....
Congrats,
I am a newbie virgin to CNC (manual machinist all my life, last 20 as a very busy hobbyist) but I have a friend who has been using Centroid for 30yrs. He seen they are getting into the DIY market and...

FF vs BF....yeah I was having a spell of cranial rectitus when I ordered, not waiting for new ones, gonna be covered by shields anyway. I did drill out the holes to use 1/4" bolts,...
Angular bearing mount and servo mount, the top of the servo mount plate will double as a mount for the bellows I have yet to buy.
I had to make a flange and a shaft bushing to adapt the 3phase 3 hp motor to the mill.
On the X axis you will have to mill the old mount and make a flat for the ball nut mount.
On the Y axis it is a bit off center and I wanted the mount and angular bearings further out so I could...
OK, before and after of the Y axis.
I used a carbide burr bit in a rotozip and clamped a 5ft aluminum ruler for a guide, cleaned up the slag and overflash of the casting and opened up the width to...
I got ball screws from two different sources, the nicest and best service with great communication was from Fred at BST Automation.
His email is [email protected] and his store is can be found...
jhop,
How do you keep your shop so clean?
Mine is always a wreck.
Cleaner,
Going to hang it and make a bracket for the double nut 3205 ballscrew.
I got the Y axis moving and sliding, working on the servo mount now .....making my own.

I bet we did, I didn't get the power Z and mine doesn't have the separate power box. The rest of my wiring is coming out anyway.
I think the 2hp will end up on my 16yr old ZAY 7032G (HF), and it...
Cleaner,
Update on the build, DMM servos 750w, also got a 3450rpm 3 phase motor and a LSIL VFD, single phase to 3 phase inverter, I have a RPC but don't want to run a 30hp RPC for a 3hp motor, I...
No I won't stand on the base, once I get the Y axis servo mounted and the enclosure I should be okay getting in and to the table, if not drill a few more holes and move it forward. (I build bikes so...
I recently bought a 940M from Precision Matthews (with hardened ways), so far I am impressed. I will be converting it with the help and advice from a friend who knows far more than I.
