It is a bit late now.
I ordered an LCD panel from china and soldered an edge connector to it and now that bit works.
The gas strut was replaced with assistance form guys on here.

It looks like the head unit is approx 30kgs (66lbs) Do you think I should consider the lower spec strut (50lbs)?
In the UK, they seem to be calibrated in Newtons - and so 30kgs...

Whilst stripping my machine for cleaning, I took the gas strut off and noticed it was more like a slide whistle with zero resistance!!

Anyone replaced one on their machine? The label on my strut...
