Sounds like the servo motor has problem.
If you have a spare motor, you can replace it and see if the problem still there or not.

It looks like the switch issue.

The turret motor could be broken, you can check the turret motor and its wiring.
Seems the spindle inverter has some problem, check if there is any alarm code on it, then refer to the inverter manual to check the reason.
You can use AC servo spindle motor and AC servo spindle driver to drive the head stock.
Keep in mind that if you remove the gears, then you will need a bigger torque motor than the original one....
Try to replace a new limit switch, if the new limit is working fine, then the old one should be broken.
We have used this HAK31 turret before, it has 6 position type and 8 position type, maybe it is suitable for you too.
