Re: Can I perform such task with DIY CNC?

If you're planning on building a CNC to cut rubber for your blade I think it's the wrong tool for the job. I also don't think you're going to get a drag knife through the rubber... just my opinion.

Re: Can I perform such task with DIY CNC?

You might be better served, pun intended, to use a flush trim router bit after rough installing the rubber to the racket..

Many thanks for that Peter. I'm getting a little more comfortable with the UC100 and may go with another G540 since I already have some experience with it, but a 3rd project might also be looming for...

Thank you for the great detail and explanation it's very helpful!

  7. Re: Building new and better Wood router... electronics help requested.

Thanks Craig.... after reading your post I'm understanding that Mach3 is a huge bottleneck??

If Mach3 runs at a max of 25kHz then is there no chance of the communication chain running faster than...
  8. Re: Building new and better Wood router... electronics help requested.

Thanks for the reply's. It seems I'm not getting far from the G540 and I do understand why, its been very reliable and is complete in a nice package, the parallel port is its only downfall.

    Adam,
  9. Re: Building new and better Wood router... electronics help requested.

The G540 will remain on my original CNC as its up and running and doing well... assuming you're moving away from a G540 do you have preferences?

When looking at a BOB, it appears they all have...
  10. Re: Building new and better Wood router... electronics help requested.

Thanks for the reply LorenBMS. The problem with the G540 is the communication, parallel port, it just isn't viable and makes little sense to build a new system using it.

    So, I'm thinking of using...

  12. Building new and better Wood router... electronics help requested.

I currently use a G540 on my CNC and have found it very reliable but I'm struggling with the parallel port connectivity and that its for 4 axis, 2 un-needed. I'm also design unaware, meaning the G540...

RFQ - SMALL PIECES, LASER CUT

Looking for 3/16 or 1/4 using a ferromagnetic metal, probably more in tune with a hobbyist since I'm only looking for a single run of 10 pieces.
