  1. Re: Servo Selection - DMM or Used Industrial servos

Wrong, on the old drives it's 0-5v analog with a direction pin. Probably intended for potentiometer use. It could be worked around in linuxcnc, but it's apparent that these weren't intended to be...
  2. Re: Servo Selection - DMM or Used Industrial servos

I have several complaints about DMM, but one of them is that mine are difficult to tune. I have legacy dyn2 drives that do not have encoder output, so it's hard to tell what effect changing settings...

    Re: Zach's G0704

Spent quite a bit of my time actually running the mill, not working on it. But here's a little update on what has happened and some of the parts made.

First, the mill all came apart for a couple...

Re: Operator Control Panel for CNC Mill

I need to get around to finishing mine (the blue one in the original post).

Re: Homann Designs TM20LV (BF20,G0704) conversion

It's worth a shot, but the replacement nuts might not fit. I bought a second nut to double nut one of the screws I already had and it was nowhere close to fitting. I had to go from .125 to .118 balls...

I'm having the same problem. I've given up for the time being, but it may be worth emailing the web master.

  7. Re: Completely lost on the 'Homing' concept of LinuxCNC

Alright, what you need to do is 'hook up' your limit switch signal to the homing signal pin in HAL. If you look in the hal (and familiarize yourself with the format) you can see that 'both-y' is...
  8. Re: Completely lost on the 'Homing' concept of LinuxCNC

Yes, can you post your .hal file as well? It should be in the configs folder in the Linuxcnc folder. It sounds like all you need to do is 'hook up' (in the software) your limit switch to the software...
  9. Re: Completely lost on the 'Homing' concept of LinuxCNC

Homing is certainly required to use soft limits. You must home first to establish where the machine is along it's travel (where it is relative to g53 origin). Then the lengths of travel for each axis...
  10. Re: Completely lost on the 'Homing' concept of LinuxCNC

Sorry, I assumed you were a bit more familiar with Linuxcnc. It may be worth skimming the 'HAL manual' and 'integrators manual' which should be easy to find via Google.

    What homing does is moved...
  11. Re: Completely lost on the 'Homing' concept of LinuxCNC

You can either set your limit switches to shared home/limit switches in HAL or tell it not to require homing. Adding 'NO_FORCE_HOMING=1' to the [TRAJ] section of the .ini file will accomplish this....

Re: How To SAFELY Remove Torus Pro Table...

I've contemplated a similar oiler. Similar to a Scani valve used in wind tunnel testing. No metering valves would big benefit. And if designed right you could even do away with check valves. Downside...
  13. Re: Tormach PCNC 1100 ATC info - want to do it myself.

    Have you read this:

    LinuxCNC Documentation Wiki: ToolChange

It summarizes the LinuxCNC signals for tool changes, which Path Pilot presumably uses. Even if Path Pilot uses some other...

Yes, Azle is quite a drive.

What are you running for control software? You should verify that the motors have encoders and not resolvers, since I believe the g320 drives only work with encoders....
