Re: MADCAM broken with latest version

yes you can, if you have the installation file.
Before you try that, try to reinstall the latest release.

    Re: Project Curves?

There is only one way you can cause the toolpath to hit the bottom, and that is if you set a greater Stock to Leave than half the cutter diameter. It is a known habit and the reason is that the the...

    Re: Project Curves?

I did an irregular box and used MadCam's Project Curve feature, please note that the projected curve is above the entire model. This is a tool path with a 5 mm ball mill with -2 mm Stock to Leave. Is...

    Re: Project Curves?

Sorry, I don't understand, isn't -0.020 what you are looking for?

Alternatively lower the curve where you want it. If it is a 3D surface project the curve onto the surface, make an offset...
  6. Re: madCAM 6 simulator blank and post processor output file extemsions missing

A few times I've had problems with the simulator and every time it has been related to graphics. Have you got a driver update recently?

    Re: Cut quality problem

There are two things here I would like to discuss. Or, maybe three when I think about it.
    1. Yes, the default Mach3 post is producing small lines representing the arch. There are a few settings you...

    Trung,
What is your hardware spec? Do you have a good GPU?

    Re: Importing Gcode?

No it can't. But what you can do is to use the point cloud and import into Rhino. Then you will have surfaces to work with.

Re: Best belt drive ever! (If I do say so myself)

Ha ha ha! First time I check this thread in a long time and this is what I read.
Yes I did exactly that. Super simple setup, I even made it on a table as a base. I put some tension on the belt and...

    Re: Simulator Crawls.........

There are updates on the simulator coming. Not sure how much next service release will include but the simulator has been reported to be problematic on some machines (not all). It seems there will be...

    Re: computer requirements

In the first post you wrote you have an i5. Get an i7 8 core CPU and you can maximize calculation speed. Don't forget to increase the number of calculation threads in the settings.

Re: No cuts seen in simulator with MC 6 SR4

I am not at my CAM computer at the moment, but I am pretty sure I did pocketing the other day without any problems in the sim. I can check later.

Re: setup for tilted 4th axis in MADCAM

I have no idea. I haven't seen such a setup but there are some really funky machines running under MadCAM so I am pretty sure you can make it somehow. I think your best bet is an e-mail directly to...

    Re: computer requirements

Buy an i7 processor and buy that video card. It will make a good difference.
My initial thought though, is why do you generate paths with 0.001 tolerance and 0,02 steps? Do you create nano tube...

Re: Custom tool profile in MADCAM ?

Not what I know unfortunately. I know there are ball cutters simulated for making undercuts and curved tubes (engine intake) but not sure how it is implemented in the code though.
  19. Re: No g-code file generated by Madcam in Rhino

    It was Windows then! :D
  20. Re: No g-code file generated by Madcam in Rhino

Can you make a test with the default 3 axis LinuxCNC post processor?
I have a feeling that the post processor might cause an error and the error is silently thrown by the generator.

I'll try to call the office today and see if I can get a response.
  22. Re: PROBLEM - Netowork License validation failing

Did you use the official support e-mail address from the web site or Joakim's?
  23. Re: Z needs to be negative to cut from zero which is top of part. How to configure?

To me Origo is the natural way of the working with the model. Same behavior in all the expensive licenses I've owned or used over the years (MasterCAM, SolidEdge, Rhino/MadCam...).
    On the other...
  24. Re: Z needs to be negative to cut from zero which is top of part. How to configure?

Move your model below zero (Origo), select the objects you want to cut and click the first icon in the Madcam toolbar. Then go ahead and make your toolpaths. The workbox you only need to modify when...

    Re: Problem saving defaults

There was a problem with MadCam not remembering the path to the config but it is fixed in the latest service release. Don't remember version number though.
  26. Re: Z needs to be negative to cut from zero which is top of part. How to configure?

Like Mauri says, move your zero point to origo in Rhino (or wherever you want it in your machine). The Rhino workspace represents your machine's workspace.

What version of Madcam are you using?
  28. Re: Difference between "Rapid Approach" vs "Approach" points in a Post Processor

    I think you are correct.
And yes, the RAPID_APPROACH is somewhat internal, the G code processor decides if it can use a RAPID_APPROACH or not when the G-code is generated. So lets say you want to...

Re: Plasma post processor for Madcam

Ryan, did you come further with this? I think I know how you can make a post processor for the plasma. I can help you with the on/off but need some input from you (like your expected program output)....
  30. Re: Difference between "Rapid Approach" vs "Approach" points in a Post Processor

RAPID is the traversal to a new toolpath where a RAPID_APPROACH is used until an APPROACH is activated which is the final descent. But beware, the RAPID_APPROACH is not always used, you can get a...
