Re: Gantry Racking At Center-ish of Table

My guess would be the nut is not aligned with the screw mounts, so the screw gets tighter as it gets closer to the ends. You can check by removing the motors and turn the screws by hand, to see if...
  2. Re: Total Newbie: UCCNC and Sherline CNC lathe

First thing I'd try is remove the pendant plugin, and see if you can jog with the keyboard.

Also note that UCCNC does not have a lathe mode, so is probably not the best choice for a lathe....

Re: Centroid or DMM Bob + UC400ETH

UCCNC is not included with the UC400ETH. It's an additional $60.

Both have their pro's and cons.
I've been told that the Acorn probably has better motion, and can run smoother and faster in some...
  4. Re: Is there any actual upside to gear-free DC spindle motors?

These are the speeds at the rated voltage.

These motors are like servo motors, where torque is constant across all rpm.

Smoke and burned wood will usually give that away pretty quickly. :)

Re: Any pics of cnc control cabinets?

Some components require the DC supply to be isolated. Connecting the DC- to ground loses the isolation.
  7. Re: Can you take step / direction from G540 to run old analog servo motor?

Afaik, no servos can be used without the encoder feedback. Without feedback, the motor would just run continuously. But without feedback, the drive won't even work, as it needs to know where the...

Re: Gantry Racking At Center-ish of Table

Possibly a mechanical issue causing binding on one side?
  9. Re: Linear Toroidal PSU for DYN2+400W DMM servos

Sounds like you're over-complicating things. The DYN2 needs 60V DC. Simple.
Max RPM will be dictated by the voltage, if you choose to use less than 60V.
  10. Re: Linear rail conversion side plate material selection.

If the 6061 is flat, then I'd use that.

Re: David A's New 2x3 Bench Top CNC

The current version of Mach3 available for download works with the latest versions of Windows 10.

    Yes, get the...

Re: David A's New 2x3 Bench Top CNC

    What's stopping you?
Install Mach3, and the plugin for your controller. Mach3 runs fine on any version of Windows 10.

Re: David A's New 2x3 Bench Top CNC

The 350ipm cut does not look 3.5x faster.
I'd do the same thing with longer, straight cuts.

Re: Designing new Router called Maximus

Before the arrival of cheap chinese steppers, people used high quality components, then came with real spec sheets and technical info. These would tell you that a motor should be mounted to a solid...
  16. Re: Feedrate and RPM for plywood 6mm compression bit

For what reason? You can easily cut 1/8" deep/pass with a 1/8" bit.

The main limiting factor in how deep you can cut is your spindle power, and machine rigidity.

    Spindles don't "skip"....

Re: cutting Acrylic with New Machine

Is it stalling while cutting, or during rapids?

There should be practically zero cutting forces with what you're doing. (your RPM is likely way too high, btw).
  18. Re: Can you take step / direction from G540 to run old analog servo motor?

You'd probably need to split the step/direction wires out before the parallel cable goes into the G540, because the G540 doesn't give you access to the step/dir wires.
  19. Re: Linear rail conversion side plate material selection.

Like Adam said, 3/4"-1". I would not do two separate layers.
  20. Re: Linear rail conversion side plate material selection.

It's already bolted to a big extrusion.
The area of concern would be between the linear bearings, and where the extrusion starts.
I'd go with a thicker plate of MIC6, and just machine a pocket...

Re: Vetric Aspire nose dive on Z Axis

Could be a hundred different reasons.

    Binding.
Lack of lubrication, or dust buildup in the bearings.
    Power Supply problem.
    Wiring problem.
    PC problem.
    Mach3 problem.

Re: Its Aliveeeee my AXBB-E is working

The instructions are for a simple direct connection, not a connection to a network.
I prefer to add a second network card for the controller. If setup exactly like the manual says, it works...

    Re: MACH3/FEEDRATE

Both programs appear to run fine in demo mode.

Changing the feedrate does indeed change the speed.

Note that in G93 mode, the feedrates are specified in time, not actual feedrate.

    In G93...
