They're cheap enough and a common enough failure it can't hurt to have a few extra as spares.
Glad you got it going again.

As I say, no need to energize them - if your carousel won't stop then one is shorted closed, just measure continuity between the load pins and replace the ones that show any continuity at all.

Richard,
The triacs are Grayhill 70M-OAC5A or something similar (should be printed on the side of the part). I checked them with the board on the bench, no power applied - just measure continuity...
Just to finish this for future reference: the problem was the two resistors behind the TLAUF; one of them was blown open (but didn't show any outward signs of burning or anything). The resistors are...
If anyone's following this.. it turns out what I thought was a capacitor inside the motor is actually a rectifier for the brake coil. That should have been obvious but I guess I looked right past it....
George,
Thanks a bunch for the reply.
I actually had to replace a couple of those triacs in the past; I had an issue with the tool carousel just constantly rotating and found two that were...
Hey all,
I've got an issue that started the other day. My VMC 760/22 stopped changing tools - the carousel won't come forward to the spindle, and it alarms out with a "Tool Arm Timeout".
I...
Here are a couple of pictures of the covers I have:

Does anyone have a photo of the front Y-axis and Z-axis way covers on a VMC 760/22? I bought one and it came with a loose telescoping metal way cover, like the X-axis ones; I can't figure out how...
I bought a VMC 760/22 and I need to remove the casting between the column and the Z-axis motor to get it under a beam in the shop. I think this means I'll have to remove the ballscrew thrust...
Try swapping the Z and Y-axis drives - mine did that when a drive went, and I was able to figure out which one it was by swapping them around. Got a new drive and it fixed the problem.
Also, you...
I'm building a 3-axis gantry machine with SBR16 fully supported rails and bearings throughout. I've packed the bearings with white lithium grease but the seals aren't the best and it's a pain to have...
World's most pointless retrofit - R2E3 to R2E4 using 30 year old parts.
Hey Doug, dibs on your old control!
For future reference: I got another NC400 and the machine is working fine now, so the drive was the problem.
My R2E3 Series 1 stopped running mid cycle and wouldn't home when reset; the Z-axis would home but the X would cause an error.
If I switch the X-axis drive to another axis the error follows the...
Is it possible to edit a program in the R2E3's memory via a terminal program or one of the Bridgeport EZ utils?
I have EZLINK working quite well to transfer files to the machine, or DNC larger...
Just a thought - is your machine running on a phase converter?
Rob, good catch. I'll give the BOSS 9 post a try.
I still would like to know what setting it is in the post which determines whether or not it rapids to the clearance plane before drilling,...
I've got a question about posting (I think).
The post for my Bridgeport BOSS 8 (I actually use the BOSS 5 post because it's all that's available for V24) outputs peck drilling cycles as canned...
Huh. Looks like I missed that when I redid my meters. I'll have to pull the vari drive housing and replace that meter. Thanks!
This is exactly what I was looking for but couldn't find. Thanks!
I'm using V24. Does this still apply?
Is there any reason why the Mill 2 Axis-profile tool won't let me use a hole pattern as the geometry? I guess the hole pattern is assumed to be used with a drill cycle, but in my case I want to...
The manual for the BOSS 8 says that once you've got TLOs set for all tools, you can set the Z zero by running the current tool down until it touches the top of the work and using SET XYZ to set Z=0....
Does your display say it's on the limit switch? Maybe the lower limit switch is stuck down.
FSWizard
Looks to me like your DOC is way too low as well as your feed.
I should point out that I just had an interesting time slotting 304 and the speed and feed numbers that FSwizard gave me...
Sorry, my bad. The uppermost switch is the limit switch. Next down is the home switch, and the bottom one is the lower limit switch.
I should add, the quill home switch is the upper one (so the quill is fully retracted when homing).
On my Series 1 with BOSS 8, it homes to the flat boss at the lower left of the table (ie quill centered over boss, table to the rear and right).
