Suck it and see. Probably not but for sure you will learn plenty. I have an expensive 1024nm engraving laser. I tried the sort of thing you are talking about but attempted to make printed circuit...
pretty cool! keep me posted, would love to see if you can get better results..

john
Give it a go! Always the best way. If the results are not good enough add a projector bulb. This will provide a single wavelength of light close enough. You are doing it for the sharp shadow edge....
Yes, shadow was the problem. I used a strong light really close to reduce (but not remove) it. Not practical really. I converted the resulting image to a tiff, brought that into my cad and sketched...
Hi Dazz, the box is cool and might be interesting to make but it cant be easier than making a photoshop macro or vectorizing in illustrator. So far I did some complicated tools simply by taking an...
Electo chemical and electrolytic etching are 2 entirely different processes. Gun parts often have special finishes. You have no real idea how these would react with the above methods, chemicals etc...
How's that going to work? Even more impractical/time consuming/problematic than setting up for engraving with a tool on a machine! If you laser the parts a deep mark can be made start to finish in 5...
thats pretty cool!

I did the same thing with my iphone - simply take a picture of the object on a white background, bring it into your cad program and make curves around the outlines, takes a couple hours max. Also if...
What did you do to solve your requirement?
Cheers, john
Laser but not in your price range. Message me if you would like more info..

These machines are very nice. Perfect for small high value work, medical etc. Some people say to expensive I say not..
Cheers, John
Emco f1, taig mill, syil x7, all would work fine for that... Personally I would go haas minimill, lots of bang for your buck if you find a good used machine and will do much more than stamps.

Hi Jasminder!
do you still have your emco lathe? Please post pictures of your bearing mod. I have pcturn55 lathe. Rear bearings are worn so I try to change - not easy. Bearings are SKF deep groove...
Hi Rene,
nice mod. I have pcturn55 - very similar machine I think. Mine has option for myford quick collet closer which works. I can post up pictures if you are interested!
thanks,
john
Hi,
if you are still around! I have emcopcturn55, winnc and fanuc control. You need to read the user manuals if emco gave them to you. Every time the lathe starts up you must home the x and z axis -...
Hi,
if you are still around! What linux code? - The clue is in the sofware name - 'winnc'...
