  1. Re: Mach3 - ESS smooth stepper - Huanyang Chinese VFD - Mach 3 e-stopping???

Sound like the VFD is introducing EMI into the ESS and causing it to fault. You could try to use ferrite beads on the DCM and FOR wires coming into the relay board, or better yet would be to use a...
  2. Re: Is there a way to estimate radial and axial cutting forces of an endmill?

You can input your info here https://fswizard.com/www/ to get the cutting force after you enter your cut details, just click on the blue bar near the top of the screen to see the cutting force.
  3. Re: CNC router started breaking end mills after an accident.

If you have an indicator you can check the spindle for runout....that should tell you if it is the problem.
  4. Re: Fusion 360 CAM, Unexplained end mill plunge, arghhh!!

What he said, the G28 is a return to home command.
  5. Re: What tools do you use to cut steel in smaller pieces, before start milling it ?

One other option is to trade $$$ for time, most material suppliers will cut your material to rough size for a nominal cut fee.
  6. Re: G0704, CNC converted, huge Y backlash, but only with the table offset

When was the last time you checked the gibs adjustment? If you have a loose gib you would see a problem like what you describe.

Re: Possible sheetCAM problem, no charp corners?

It may be a controller setting issue. I don't use Mach 3 any longer but I do recall it has an exact stop mode and constant velocity mode with some setting for tolerance. Those may not be the names...

    3x Gecko 203v Stepper drives $200

  9. Re: My G0704 CNC Mill is setup to run Mach3 and has A.T. controller. I want LinuxCNC.

The clear path motors do not need a driver so you will need a breakout board to interface them to the computer, either the lpt port or a mesa fpga card. You will need a breakout board and you could...
  10. Re: My G0704 CNC Mill is setup to run Mach3 and has A.T. controller. I want LinuxCNC.

I did not realize it was a G540, In that case just a 5i25 or 6i25 and a cable will work for interfacing straight to the G540. I believe there are even premade G540 config files for the MESA cards.
  11. Re: My G0704 CNC Mill is setup to run Mach3 and has A.T. controller. I want LinuxCNC.

The clear path will run on step and direction signal, so the combo I mentioned will work for that. If you want to reuse most of what you have you could remove the smooth stepper and replace it with...
  12. Re: My G0704 CNC Mill is setup to run Mach3 and has A.T. controller. I want LinuxCNC.

If you are running steppers the 5i25with 7i76 cards are great combo, I am using it to run a Bridgeport BOSS mill with steppers and a vfd spindle.

Re: what makes a servo "digital"?

For different manufactures it means different things, but to me a true digital servo is one that the pid control loop runs in software on a processor opposed to analog electronics.

    Re: VFD

That sounds more like you have an enable and a direction contact. My vfd works that way but it is controlled with Linux CNC. I am sure Mach would be able to be configured like this as it is a fairly...

A quick look and I see ch0->InputMode=ENCODER_MODE while the rest are set to NO_INPUT_MODE; not sure if you this was your intention but does not look right.
