"First, the stepper motor needs square wave drive signhihals "
This is not a true statement. Look at the output of a Geko drive with a scope, go to the Linistepper site and look at the drive scope...
I would prefer to bore or drill out the coupling to fit.

Your 5/8 steel rod is not strong enough unless it is supported, it will flex and you will lose a lot of accuracy.

My take on this is when you have a problem and you can touch, push or move a component or wire and it changes the problem it is probably a bad solder joint.

DO NOT hook or unhook your stepper wires with the power on to the motors, you will blow the driver chips up.

biplanefan
your motors are 40 in/oz run in unipolar mode
these will work just fine on a hot wire cutter, as for drivers i would recommend a set of linistepper drivers for about a hundred bucks

I did a search and found nothing related to your question, are you sure that you have the name right?

Hi
It is much easier to make stuff with CNC than by cranking handwheels
Lets just say you want to make some mounts for some stepper motors, they can be made with 6 to 8 lines of code, not...

Hi:
This is a great design, some of the things that I really like are the adjustments for the x axis rail, a really good idea.
I also like the interconnection of the parts, good for stability and...

Well here are some free stuff for you.
Progesmart is a good free 2d drafting software and there is a thread here
for the program.
Here is a really good lesson set...
Hi Kevin
I would suggest a good background in math, trig and plane geometry is really helpful. Solid geometry also but that can be later down the road
Download Proge-smart and learn some CAD it...
Hi Kader

A really old thread brought to life
Having drilled thousands of really tiny holes I used orface drills they have a 1/4 hex built right on the drill.
budP
How many of these do you have to make?
If it were my job I would go to my local foundry and have them cast, that would only need finish cutting.
budP
it cannot cut deeper than the length of the tool

I had a look at your video and it would be a lot better if I could hear the audio, it starts out ok and then you get really tired and drift down to a whisper.
