    Re: Buying first metal lathe

While you CAN make just about anything you would need on a manual lathe, often special tooling is required. Anything with a radius requires a tool to match. Anything with a taper is similar. If it...

    Re: Buying first metal lathe

That machine looks very much like my Precision Mathews PM1228 but a little smaller.

First, virtually all these smaller/lighter lathes are made in China. If you find one that is not, it will cost...
  3. Re: Using Hall Effect sensors as limit/home switches

There is not enough information in the Amazon description to say yes or no. However I suspect the answer is NO.
  4. Re: Using Hall Effect sensors as limit/home switches

    From Amazon:

    Module Interface Description
    VCC: Positive power supply, 3.3 V to 5 V
    GND: Negative power supply
    DO: Digital signal output
    AO: Analong signal output

    All you need to do,...
  5. Re: Using Hall Effect sensors as limit/home switches

Also, that sensor requires a magnet. The sensor detects a magnetic field.

Did you look at other sensors that detect ferrous metal?...
  6. Re: Using Hall Effect sensors as limit/home switches

Did you forget to add the link?
  7. Re: Connecting spindle (PWM) output to mini lathe, MK3/4 board

The potentiometer has 3 wires going to it. One is ground, one is voltage (probably 10VDC), the third wire is connected to the wiper of the Pot. As you turn the Pot from minimum to maximum the...
  8. Re: Connecting spindle (PWM) output to mini lathe, MK3/4 board

It looks like that board does the opposite of what is needed. You need a board to convert a PWM signal to an analog signal.

    Maybe this?...

I know. I would not be able to get full power. So, do you know of one that is 230VDC?

BLDC Motor needs a new Controller

All, I need some help to find a motor controller. The motor I have seems to be relatively common in that it is used on some SX4 clones and RF45 mills and is on my PM1228 lathe. I have been unable...

    Re: Electronics Enclosure

This was helpful for me to distribute power In my boxes. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IDL6OW0/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

These make it easy to distribute AC/DC power and...
  14. Re: Question about maximum cutting area..

@adam_m I may not understand exactly what you are asking for but here is my answer.

Put a marker in the spindle and trace the outer limit of the table. Then always put the work inside the line. ...

    Re: Electronics Enclosure

There is nothing wrong with packed tight so long as you allow for air flow. Just do a trial layout, like you are doing in the picture, with the equipment that goes in the box. You may also add a...

Re: E-Stop and Safety Relay Questions

I would cut AC power to anything that moves. Not, just the router but the stepper drive also. I am also assuming that you are using the E-Stop switch to send a signal to the motion control board...

Re: Fogless cooling mixer specs request

Yes, I don't know why tube, pipe, and fitting sizes are so confusing.

I try to always think of it like this. I may be incorrect, however it is how my mind works.

    Something that conveys air...

The tubing for air and fluid is 1/8" ID Vinyl. All the tubing on the distribution board is 1/4" LDPE.

Re: Fogless cooling mixer specs request

The automatic relief valve is a safety mechanism like an E-Stop switch or a GFI outlet. With 150 PSI as the line pressure, there is a possibility, if things go wrong, that the reservoir could get...
  21. Re: Need to buy encoder for Hurco BMC 4020

I am thinking you may need to find one that is same fit and function but not the same brand/model.

Can you find any identifying numbers or names on the part you have?
Is it on the spindle or an...

I don't know that they have what you need but I am pretty sure these are not made from CHINESIUM. They are JAPANESIUM.

What was the time delay of the RC circuit? Will that reduce the accuracy when you use the limit switch for homing?

Do you really need to debounce a limit/home switch? It's...
