I got the machine fired up over the weekend and did some fine tuning in the last couple of day, except for a few minor glitches and two wires reversed the start up went very well and I'm extremely...

Had a minor set back this weekend, the pulley system design wasn't working very well or not to my liking so I machined some flange bearing.
The flanges are double sided, I have (2) 12mm sealed...

So far the total cost to build this machine is $5265.00 Canadian, I still have a few odds and ends to buy like the limit switches and so on

Got the spindle and VFD in Wednesday afternoon, mounted it to the Z axis yesterday, should have the spindle running today.

Been a crazy week, all kind of unexpected interruptions that slowed me down on finishing the machine, but it's coming along, slower that I would like but it can't be rushed either!

Good point! you are right, the melting point is fairly low, back to the drawing board!

Got lucky with the panel, found one on Ebay for 200.00

I might use a sheet of 1" black HDPE polyethylene for the working surface but still debating.

Been slow going for the past few weeks but I should be back on track in the next couple of weeks!

Don't have a problem here, I only hear the bearing on the rail when I move the gantry.

Are your axis's moving easily or is there a bit of drag? the downside of the profile rails is if you don't...

I ordered 4 Leadshine DM870 last night based on Leadshine's recommendation, got them for 95.00 US ea. instead of 135.00 very happy with that! they look to be much more superior than the Gecko's ...
