  1. Re: About to purchase CNC router from Acctek, is it risky?

I could be wrong here, but my understanding from a mold builder friend of mine, the accuracy required is very substantial.
I haven't seen a router that has the rigidity to be that accurate.
    You...
  2. Re: Mazak QT100SG Alarm 406 - Memory Protect

Its always the simple things you feel everyone should know. So here are my stupid questions.
Did you bypass any of the safety locks?
Is the control in edit mode?
Did you reset before you tried it?...

    Re: Kennametal vs Palbit

I've had the luxury of working in a very large machine shop for over 20 years.
Management understands the need for good tooling.
We are constantly testing tools against one another.
    They set it...

    Re: Kennametal vs Palbit

My experience with Kennametal has always been that they have the very best turning inserts in the world. They are still working on milling.
Sandvik, to me has the best milling cutters out there...
  5. Re: Are any of these milling machines recommended to buy?

I would go with the WMD20 if it was me. Nice big table. It appears to be a G0704 clone. Probably all made by the same people.
I'm not sure the controller board will make a difference. Mach 4 is...
  6. Re: Speeds, Feeds, and Strategies for Bench Top Mills

My experience with them is they work great when new. They don't age very well.
But I'm in the camp of there is Kurt, and then there is everything else.

Poll: Re: Do you use Tool Kits - Kit Assistant

    Swarfmaker,
You know you can go back and find all of the old commands, put them up on the bar and use them instead. I still use the old thread mill command. It just works better than the new one....

Re: Projecting edges to a plane "0"

It used to be called 2d snap. If you are trying to select the edge of a model and have it come out at 0.
Before you select any edges. look in the top left corner. There is an icon that says 2d....

  10. Re: Speeds, Feeds, and Strategies for Bench Top Mills

Here is something I've always liked doing. Especially cutting aluminum. I use an end mill with a radius. Say .062". Set D.O.C. to .04"
Run max spindle speed and max feed that the machine will run....

Re: Servo is randomly changing direction

Thanks for the replies to my misquote. It is a stepper motor.
And the whole cable was bad, which is why I couldn't find it.

    Servo is randomly changing direction

I'm just setting this up. Everything seemed to be working fine. Until it wasn't.
When I jog either up or down, I don't know which direction the motor is going to turn.
    This is a Nema 34 with 8...
  13. Ummm...... I don’t want to come off as a jerk...

Ummm...... I don’t want to come off as a jerk here, but I just looked those up. They are precision ground. A good precision ground ball screw costs about 10 times more than a rolled one.
  14. Re: What did you do (or wil you do in the future) for ballnuts?

I have never seen a C5 rolled ball screw. The only C5 I have ever seen was ground. Who is selling a C5 rolled ball screw? The C6 I use has a pitch tolerance of +/-.0012 over 12". Is this the one you...

    Re: CNC router build

Generally, the only reason a larger tool will last longer than a smaller tool is not enough RPM. In most cases, max spindle speed is just not enough to truly run a small diameter too fast enough....

Re: Sieg X2 conversion about dead?

I would start checking for cracks in the casting. I’ve seen it before. You can get hairline cracks that are really hard to notice.

    Re: Tool Holder choices. ER32?

I have a Sharp 2412 that I've had for 6 years. I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to buy ER32 collets because of the size. They aren't that big when it comes to a mill. They are more versatile for...

  20. Re: Power Mate- Model D Memory Card Problem(CRT MODEL)

I'll try this from memory, and hope it's the same control I'm thinking of.
After you put the memory card in the slot, push the program button.
That should bring up card on a soft key.

    Re: TNC530 G200 cycle problem

I've always believed you won't truly know what is going to happen until you go out to the machine and run it.
