  1. Re: How to clamp/Unclamp tools automatically??

I tried these early this morning, and they don't work, or at least not from MDI.
I haven't tried using it in a macro call. I do not see a macro called O9020 either.

    I'm starting to think that...
  2. Re: How to clamp/Unclamp tools automatically??

See if you have a macro installed in memory #O9020. This is the macro that the Fadal tool change calls. There should be details in there how to handle the drawbar solenoid and all the limit...
  3. Re: FADAL downloaded program not readable.

Looks like the serial settings may be incorrect. Are you using CD,8 for 9600 Baud?

Re: Can you program a null tool change ?

Yes, that can be a very serious problem. I don't like using different H# offsets for the same tool number. I think it's an crash waiting to happen. If you forget to do something it becomes bad in...

Re: Can you program a null tool change ?

Double check it works in the Fadal, but it should.

If you want to do manual tool changes, by hand, then always use tool 1 for example.

After your gcode for the first tool / op, enter a G28 to...

Re: Can you program a null tool change ?

You realize you can use different offsets with the same tool number right?
    Length Offset 1 = 2.00"
    Length Offset 25 = 4.00"

    M6T1
    G43 H1 Z8.

    or
Same Tool, but change the offset
    G43 H25 Z8.

BTW, What happened to all your videos in this thread???

  9. Re: Fadals past the point of no return in terms of selling?

Depends a lot where your located. Around my parts, 15K for a decent 4020 is about right. I gave 10K for mine, but I planned on reworking all the ball screws and replacing the lube system and...

    Re: VH-5C Alignment Key removal

New key made. Actually, flipped the existing key and ground a new tang on the fresh side. Installed, adjusted, then made a new plug and pressed in. Here is the plug, and look at the nice looking...

    Re: VH-5C Alignment Key removal

I solved the mystery. They drilled the hole thru the side of the spindle as expected, then pressed in a plug, then machined the O.D.
You can barely see the plug if you look carefully. So, the only...

    Re: VH-5C Alignment Key removal

I can say that the brass worm gear is back mounted to the spindle, so there is no exterior hole to cover up there.
I'm pretty sure they did not machine a blind hole inside that 5C spindle, and still...

    Re: VH-5C Alignment Key removal

I guess I will reply to myself so at least there will be some sort of information for someone down the road.

NO, removing a $65 lip seal will NOT provide access to the hole in the side of the...

    VH-5C Alignment Key removal

Alignment key is shear off. Any tips on removing it?

I imagine the pin hole must go all the way to the outside of the spindle. If the seal is removed, is there enough room to drive out the...

    Re: Fadal 4020 pozi belt

I feel your pain. Is it the shipping cost or duties that make it so expensive?

It makes you wonder how we can order something from China and ship to the states for a few bucks and free shipping? ...
  17. Re: Can't change travel, Tool Changer values in Parameter Settings

Make sure they key is installed and turned on, or open the pendant and install a jumper across the switch. I'm not certain that's your problem but mine limits what I can change in setp unless the...

    Re: SetP + M60 Brake

Evidently "Auto Brake" is not what I thought it was. I found an older thread where Rodney states that the brake applies after some period of inactivity, something like 75 seconds. I'm not really...

    SetP + M60 Brake

As most know, I've been setting up a VH-5C and I followed the manual and used SetP to set the M60 Brake to ON.

From reading the manual, I understood that when this is set, the Brake will...

  23. Re: Fadal 4020 Electrical Filter (for lack of better terms)

I can say that the Add-On 4th axis kit does not use these filters, and the Motor wires go directly to the cannon plug on top of the machine.
I only see the filters on the DC 4 amps chassis, and not...
