  1. Re: Anybody know what "PathPilot Controller - Next Generation" means?

I thought I read they were using an ethernet Mesa card with the breakout board in the computer control cabinet. I could be mistaken though.

    Re: Homing Changes

Did you verify the probe setup after you switched to 2.0? Effective diameter, calibration etc... Depending on how you did the upgrade, those values could have been lost.

Your wiring does not match the diagram... Black and blue are transposed.

Look for parabolic flute drill bits. They do a better job of clearing chips.

I like the vacuum former in the video. It is a nice simple design.

Maybe an enclosure like the ine in this video would do the job.

    Re: G84 tapping glitch??!

I was curious and I checked the documentation. (7.4.6 Tapping Cycle – G84 in the Series 3 manual). It says the same thing as Mactec. The Mach canned cycle probably had a shortcut for it..

Re: Bad face mill finish. Profile is perfect

Your test is too vague to isolate the issue. All your test proves is that there is a problem between the spinny bits of the spindle and the housing. If there is a locking key for the toolholder,...

To me there is way too much distance between your X and Y rails. They should be as close together as possible for maximum rigidity.

Re: New spindle motor - Servo or Induction?

The slow speed performance is not unexpected. AC motors are essentially constant torque devices up to the rated speed and constant power devices beyond. This means as you slow down, you have less...

  19. Re: Fixed Gantry Router with HSK-E25 ATC for under $25K

I don't see how you are going to do rigid tapping with a router spindle. Once you get down to rigid tapping speeds, you won't have a whole lot of power left. You might be able to rigid tap small...

  24. Re: Would Tormach 1100 be able to do a slotting application like this bridgeport 1.5

I am sure you can get a similar removal rate from the Tormach but you aren't going to be able to hog it at 300 rpm with a 1/2" end mill. At that speed in low range, the Tormach is only putting out...
