Buy several sorts and test. Be prepared to do a little boring out.

    Re: Vf3 help

I would imagine that every spindle brand could be different. Why not, after all?

Your most effective option is to strip the spindle down and inspect the bearings. They WILL have part numbers on...
  3. Re: URGENT HELP NEEDED! HEIDENHAIN 24V DC EXT RELAY MISSING

Hey, don't scrap it! There lots of good stuff there still.
Be creative: offer it at a very low price to someone (a hobbyist) who can replace the electronics.

Or be a bit innovative. It doesn't go...

Re: Vertical lines while engraving wood

You have a bug in the code.
You do not mention how you generated the code, but I assume it was a CAM package. It looks as though the laser was not turned off during a flyback of some sort. How you...

    Re: CNC 'jumps'

    Thousands of them on ebay.
But I suggest you should check the alignment between the motor and the shaft. Those couplings are not all that fragile, so there must have been a lot of flexing to get...
  6. Re: Looking for some advice v carving letters in 3mm aluminium

I THINK they eventually switched to kero plus an exhaust fan. :)
I use an automated pulsed misting spray of 3 parts kero to 1 part olive oil. So little liquid gets used that there is no smell and...

Mate of mine was doing a production job on soft Al and was using metho. Problem was, by the end of each day he was over the driving limit!

Not executing the m30 at the end could be one thing, although the program has run successfully on occasions.
Not executing the m5 before that is another matter. That is a real problem....

    Re: G68 Coord Rotation

    Hi TP

The conditional code bit is nice. I can produce conditional code in Mach3, but it requires some dexterity.
Rotations - both G10 and G68 seem to have the potential to leave one totally...

    Re: G31 not working

Sorry, can't help with the UC100 side of things. I use an ESS myself.

I do know that there is a problem with many LPT converters. Mach3 under XP uses the LPT port in ways a bit different from a...

    Re: Mobile CNC

Fascinating - the apps one can get.
Mach3 has a built-in 'wizard' which does the text-to-gcode bit for a dozen or so scripts. I find it very useful.

    Re: G31 not working

It does not help that you have provided next to no information about your setup.
Since some G31 instructions do work for you, I don't think the problem is in the Mach SW.
Do you have limits set up?...

Does it help if I point out that Mach3 does G68 dead easy?
    Thought not. Sorry.

  15. Re: Looking for some advice v carving letters in 3mm aluminium

Store-bought Al is usually terrible for machining. REALLY!

You could try tapered ball nosed cutters at 2,000 - 3,000 RPM, with metho or kero lubricant. You WILL need the lubricant to prevent...

    Re: Mach3 Partial Lockup

Run-time option on Mach3 to turn the path display screen off. May help.
How much free memory in the laptop?
Any network connection (by any means)? This is a big no-no.

    At the worst, you could...

    Re: CNC 'jumps'

Overwhelming probability that it is a mechanical problem with the movement on that axis.
We would need more info on the hardware.

Poll: Re: Machinist or Machine Operator? You decide..

    @Ian

I have a hobby of making very small, ultra-light, remote inverted canister stoves for walkers traveling in the snow. I have sold >150 of them (and paid off my CNC in the process). This is one...

Poll: Re: Machinist or Machine Operator? You decide..

Seems to me that this argument is obsolete, or at the very least seriously lacking.
What do you call the person who decides how the part should be machined on the CNC equipment available and then...

    Re: Epoxy Granite Portal Machine

The HTD is definitely a modern upgrade over the old trapezoidal (XL) timing belts. The difference is the modern curved tooth shape vs the old angular shape. I suspect that the GT2/3 may be even...

    Re: Epoxy Granite Portal Machine

There might be some noise from the toothed belt if you are using one of the original 'timing belt' designs (with backlash), but the modern designs such as GT2 & GT3 are pretty much silent.

    Re: Epoxy Granite Portal Machine

If by stepping up gear 4/1 to reach 12000rpm on spindle, with using the timing belt, will there be too much noise?
That depends on the quality and size of the bearings, their alignment, and the mass...

Re: constant stopping for no reason

scroll down to Estop & uncheck "Enable".
Only one problem...it won't let me disable it?
Correct. You can NOT disable the eStop signal. Safety reasons. But the SS can filter noise out.

Re: constant stopping for no reason

'Some assembly may be required ...'

You would need to adapt the microswitch to the mechanical part of the common (twist to release) eStop button.
But that might be the fun part!
