  1. Re: UCCNC PROBE G31 NOT WORKING MOST OF THE TIME

You need to make sure the probe is working before you start trying to probe with it.
Meaning, you need to see the LED change on the diagnostic screen. That needs to be the first step.
  2. Re: UCCNC PROBE G31 NOT WORKING MOST OF THE TIME

    1) Look at the diagnostic page, and see if the probe LED lights up every time you trip it. It should. And also look at the LED on the UB1, which should also light up (or go out) each time the probe...

    Re: UCNC Motion planning question

CNC Drive is planning on an S Curve Planner for UCCNC, but I wouldn't expect it for at least a year or more.

Re: Is it cheeper to build

No, it's a set of plans that you buy. Joe does sell some of the parts. Some members make their own parts.

The original "Joes Hybrid" has evolved over time, and what most people build these days is...
  5. Re: Using BSMCEO4-PP USB Controller Board with lathe.

I wouldn't expect any Chinese board to work with Mach3 lathe. Virtually all Chinese boards have some issues with Mach3.
You're best bet is to buy a non chinese controller, like an ESS.
  6. Re: "RUN FROM HERE" Z- Axis goes to Limit switch???????

Just because it works in Mach4 does not mean it works in Mach3. Two different programs, with different plugins and firmware for each.
  7. Re: "RUN FROM HERE" Z- Axis goes to Limit switch???????

It's worked fine for me every time I've ever used it.
Might be an ESS issue, as I use the parallel port.

    Re: NewBie Technical Guy

Probably because $2500 doesn't buy much.

Any machine can do 3D carving.

How big of a machine are you looking for?

    .005" = 0.127mm

I'm not aware of any plans for a good machine made from wood. What you want is to make the components torsion boxes, which are the stiffest possible wood construction. It's...

Re: Is it cheeper to build

It's generally cheaper to build, but you'll likely spend hundreds of hours on a scratch build.

Do you have the tools, equipment and skills to build a "high precision" machine?

Re: GME's New 80/20 CNC Build - My Design

The sprayed on bedliner in my truck is thin and hard, and I don't think it would provide any damping.

If using sand, I've heard that oiled sand is much better, as it acts like one large mass.

Re: GME's New 80/20 CNC Build - My Design

I never thought of this, but a much cheaper option is the stuff they sell for car audio.

I don't think there's any record of it here.

And unfortunately, David Malicky, who contributed greatly to this thread, passed away a few years ago.

    Re: absurdly long toolpaths..

What's your tolerance setting under Job Setup? Try increasing it.

I haven't seen any issues like that, but I rarely use V7. I HATE the interface, and much prefer V6.

Adding the multiple layer spoilboard may help dampen the frame enough to get rid of it.

There's some very good info on gantry beam design here:

Note that it may not agree with Peter. :)

Re: MACH 3 OEM Spindle Stop button

If it's a button wired to an input, you'd use the macropump macro to monitor the input, and call the M5.

I think it might be based on the TinyG, as that's the only hobby controller I know of with S Curve acceleration.
