I've got a similar setup to yours - Powermax 45 and a G540. You can run the 3&4 pins right across one of the G540 relays. Just take #3 to one of your output pins, and #4 to ground.

Page 5 gave me the answer - post-flow cooling air. I'll find out tonight just how long it stays on.
Bought a slightly-used Powermax 45 in December and I've been using for manual cutting for the last couple months. LOVE it! Don't know what I did without it. I'm getting a CNC table set up, and...
False-alarm. The oiling system was low and had disabled the drive. I didn't know it did that.
Call me ignorant, but mildly smarter today. And very very happy!
Hey, Tree-folk, I'm hoping there's someone wise to old hardware here.
I've got a Tree Journeyman 325 - 80's vintage with a Dynapath Delta 10 controller. I've had it about two years, love it, and...
Nah, the chuck is a regular right-hand thread. Good luck.

Hey Mike,
Glad to hear you're liking yours! I actually have had a ball with this machine! I really love it. The contactor thing was a bit frustrating, but not the end of the world.
I was one...
I have an update on my flaming-G0602.
I called Grizzly and they're supposedly going to send me a new contactor. They said it was out of stock and would take 7-10 days to turn around.
In the...
I was cheerfully using my lathe today, and started smelling electrical smoke. At first I couldn't tell where it was coming from, and then I saw smoke coming out of the electrical box. I shut...
I cut one of the quill bearing races last night using my G0602. It was doing pretty well with the new 3/4" x 10" boring bar and some Anchor cutting fluid. I had the spindle speed set to 560, and...
CR, so moved to here: http://cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75422
So, please go there and give me a bunch of advice!

A bit more info on my plans:
If the spindle upgrade goes well, then I'm planning to also add CNC control to the mill.
I have a bunch of CSM servo motors and amps from a former employer that...
Hello all,
I've had this project in the works for a while and I'm now getting up enough steam to have something to share. I've written a few posts/questions about this mill in various places but...
Sorry, CR, no rudeness intended.
I posted to this thread because :
A) I am using a G0601 for this project. People may want to know how to get the most out of this machine.
B) People...
Edit:
If you want to read about adventures modifying and adding CNC to my old Gorton 8D (using my G0602), you can read about that in a new Vertical Mill / Lathe Project Log -
Here:...
My gearbox has that little drip too, but I haven't bothered tearing it apart yet. It's only a little drip, after all. One of these days I'll investigate.
I made the mistake of tearing apart the...
Hans, these machines are a lot of fun! They are definitely not little toys. I would never call myself a skilled machinist, and I've been able to make aluminum parts to .001 tolerances. Maybe...
I played around with my problem amp a little more this morning. By changing the pots, I did get it to respond to the +/- 9V signal, but it's not as smooth as the other amp. It seems to still have...
Well, if it won't do resolvers then it won't work for these motors. They're all resolver feedback.
Looking at the nameplates, most of them are trapezoidal motors too.
I was looking at the Elmo...
Al, thanks for the info. If anyone hasn't told you lately, You're the man!
That makes sense that voltage matches RPM, because on the good drive I measured a max RPM in each direction of around...
Hi All,
Several years ago I picked up a whole mess of CSM (Parker) servo motors and a few amps from my employer who was going out of business. They were all matched and so I figured I might be...
Congrats, Brian! I've had a ball with my machine so far. It's been lots of fun.
It's not that hard to disassemble the lathe. I tore mine apart and put it in my Mazda wagon in less than an hour. ...
Roger,
Yeah, that's the same QCTP as I bought. It's been a nice unit so far.
The base plate that comes with the QCTP is larger than the one that comes with the lathe. It's meant to be milled...
I need all the luck I can get on this one!
Yeah, I was hoping one of the chinese mills would have a true 3" quill but everything is really 75mm. The Bridgeport quills are too large (3.25 or 3.375...
Thanks Cruiser.
So it looks like these are the "standard" 75 mm quill rather than a true 3".
Do you think it would be possible for me to use some bronze shims to take up the difference in...
Well, I pursued the idea I listed just before this, and it was basically a total bust. So I'm back to square one.
I found out that the thru-bore of the head is actually 3", so I might be able to...
Well, I've pursued a few different avenues, and didn't really get anywhere. So I think I'm going to take a little different tack.
I did some measuring last night - the quill housing on the mill...
Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone has the dimensions of an assembled IH spindle/quill assembly? Is the precisely 3.000" OD? What about the length of the quill and the distance the spindle extends...
I've been playing around more with the new lathe. I indicated the spindle with the dead-center installed and it measured out at less than a thou - maybe more like half a thou. So it seems to be...
Oh my. Took my first cuts on this machine tonight, and it did very well! I had to modify a steel bearing retaining ring for my Gorton 8D mill, and the 602 cut through it "like butta"!
I'm...
