Part is in spec , just more for my own reference , just a chinese spindle setup so nothing high end , only happens when travelling in the X axis , using fusion 360 , seems to be in synch with...
I am looking for clues in what is causing this strange harmonic pattern in my machine , it seems to have visual ridges at set intervals , cannot feel then at all.
Flat surfacing was done across the...
These jaws screw down and out - different to a traditional vice. https://youtu.be/4_kYYKfqaDg
The blocks are mostly square , maybe I should have machined a ball into the soft jaw rather than a cylinder to increase point loading and place it at the top of the vice so it forces the part down...
These are in a SMW mod vice so the movable jaw can swivel as it tightens on the cone of each holddown bolt , that was the reason i went with point loading on the movable jaw.
Hi , I have a job to do holding multiples of 30mm x 40mm block of cast allow , they are not 100% square so I came up with this aluminium soft jaw design but they do not hold as firm as I would like -...
Only the trolls who drag up 3 year old threads :) and have only ever posted 3 times since joining in 2020
It seems to have the same setup on every axis including the Z
What is your opinion on this ballscrew design being sold as a hobby machine , no support or thrust control on any axis ?

Dan 911 can you post a link to the latest plug , I have a issue where 5% of the time when executing a manual toolchange and the code issues a M5 the spindle does not stop , UCCNC turns off water...
Just starting to put together a new build , currently have a 1000x1000 Workbee which is ok but not really rigid enough or has enough Z travel to mount a vice fixture.
Putting it together out of...
I am currently using a AXBB-E with a g540 on port 3 , works very well with the ability to add another 2 drivers to make it to a 5 axis on my setup.
Nothing negative to report on it so far
The x axis is 1m long and most of the deflection I can feel is a moment around the beam and am worried the cutting forces will make this noticeable in chatter.
the other option was to put a 80/20...
I have a openbuilds workbee and am looking to upgrade the torsional rigidity using two 80/20 Beam extrusions rather than the standard 1 beam.
Question is should I put them back to back to give a...
