I totally agree! I am replacing the aluminum helical couplers that came with my Chinese leadscrews. Why because I can grab the leadscrew and twist it 5 degree. I can see the two set screws pivot. I...
I used to have a big drill press too but I got rid of it, that would be a nice place for a G0704. My bigger mill is much more than a drill press
The X2 is great but man the work envelope...
If the machine is going to cost $900+ might as well get the BF20/G0704.
Anyways I have a micromark version of the X2 in the classified section going for the fraction of the cost that is already...
Is that nipple or zerk fitting the same?
I am using these ballsrews and they come with zerk fittings, can someone suggest where to purchase a grease gun to lube the ballnuts?
Thanks,
Vic
They actually make a longer ballscrew just for the larger table SX2 mill. They just need to respond to their email. I sent them an email a few days ago and no response.
Ballscrew kits use 5/8" Thomson ballscrews with a .200 pitch that is what is posted on their site.

When I built mine, I opted for the first option because
1 - you get larger table
2 - the pillow blocks are always under the tool spindle head so its always supported
3 - because of 2 you don't...
Looks good similar to what I have built. I used an X2 head, treadmill motor and KBMM controller.
IMHO I would only use allen headscrews its easier to use and they tighten up well without...
Well its done! Mounted the machine to its location and got ideas from others who used shower pan liners just in case I end up soaking the machine with coolant, when I do I will build some kind of...
Well at least I know it can cut wood. Here is a short video of it using one of the wizzard of Mach3
I am a noob so how do I embed a video here? Below is just a link.

I did my first test run on a MDF board, 65ipm,.2doc, .375 endmill. Feedrate could go be faster but I think the spindle speed was not up to task. I really need to get some kind of tach display on this...
Worked on my tooling plate. Did not have it programmed so I used the MDI command to locate and drill the holes. Almost there just a few more holes and then start tapping 3/8-16.
I managed to get my machine running but I still need to put in some swarf guard to protect the leadscrew and ways. I only managed to drill some holes for my tooling plate. I ran the motor and it...
Well got the head mounted with an extend reach. Looks like a micro head for such a big machine, but it should do for now. I also go the KBMM controller hooked up to the motor and it seems to be...
Well time to put them leadscrew on and support for the stepper motors.
Here is the X axis, then the Z axis and finally the Y axis. Hope to mount the motor and find out how to connect the KBMD...
My machine is not bolted down so I would be afraid of mounting a long heavy part on it.
Anyways on with my build as I just received the ballscrews from Chai. I am using 1605 series for X -Y and...
I don't have an X3 but if you still have your X3 working couldn't you make them? If you want to be up and running right away I would use CNC fusion kit. Then you spend more time making parts instead...
I ordered my 906 stepper, but DSP did not have all the items in stock, will try CNC fusion if they can sell me a set.
So I have an extra 380oz motor that I want to power a tapping unit similar to...
Did not see that! No work to be done there!
Hi Hoss, BTW thanks again for all your help with my getting started in CNC, maybe you can add this option as well.

edit......
I would consider using rails, its cheaper than a new table and probably $300 with shipping. Plus I am not too fond of the gibs that I have to constantly monitor. You can pick up rails cheap on ebay...
My bad, I thought they would at least spec these motors out?
Last year, I was going to get one of those newer larger base and table that LMS says it is direct swap, but I too had the CNC fusion kit and I would require longer ballscrews that CNC fusion now...
Sometimes going with what users recommend is more useful than what manufacturer recommends?
[QUOTE=H500;1219147]If I was buying today, I would go with the KL23H2100-50-4B. 3.5A will give 400oz-in. The 2.5mH inductance is well matched to the 50v rating of the g540.
The motor will be...
CR, thanks for taking the time to give the part numbers. I will give it a try with the 906oz motor.
Can you tell us what the CR pulley ratio is? Is that a 2-1? can we purchase that from an off the shelf vendor?
Sorry for jacking the thread, I am actually building a similar to the size of X3. So...
Thanks Ray, I will give it a try then, nothing to lose as I already have the system working on my X2. I will definitely have to counterbalance the head as it will be nearly double the weight of the...
