Oh, and here's the CamBam file.

Oh, and here's the CamBam file.
I am having trouble generating GCode correctly for a neck carve. I have designed the neck in Rhino3D and I just want to do the shaping of the back of the neck.
The first photo shows the overall...
I finally worked through the setups. I still don't know what all the parameters do but I can make parts. Thanks again.
Wow, thanks! Great information here! I am also a visual learner, and I learn by doing, not reading. I couldn't even get started! I couldn't see how changes I made to the parameters translated...
Yes, I know how to use 2.5D and I can whip out gcode in minutes with CAMBAM. Yes, I know I need 3D to machine a carved top for a guitar. I have been through the manual several times and just can't...
I'm looking to do 3D as well. People who write tutorials need to have people run through them who don't already know how to use the software.
I made some guitar templates. I know what you're thinking... "Why not just machine the guitar?". I will, but I need to make some money off the machine right now!

Has anyone tried this one? I like Mach3 so this would be great, I just can't find anyone who has tried it.
I got it to work, but in a different way. I created a part. I wanted to just machine a surface, but I had to make a part. Then, in CamCAm I had to give it a value for the Target Depth. I assumed...
Ok, that sounds right. How do I do that in Rhino, though? I generated the surface using the two-rail method, so it picked the orientation.
Ok, here's an STL file of an arched surface that varies from 9 1/2" radius to 12" radius. CamBAM seems to want to cut the back surface, whether I check that box or not. That is if I did the attach...
When I loaded a file into CamBAM that had surfaces, it didn't pick up all of them. It's probably my fault because I am so new to 3D and I probably didn't have all the surfaces stitched together...
SomeWhatLost - I came to the same conclusion. CamBam is great for 2D+, whereas MeshCAM looks to more of a 3D tool. If you can afford both I would go that way. Software is tough on a hobbyist...
See my answers above. I think I will try something easier as a test tomorrow. Thanks!
I tried creating a 'Region Curve' around the cut, but that didn't work either. Can someone help?
I would love a demo version, or a PDF file/tutorial.
I am trying to create a cut of just one portion of a guitar body. I want to cut the bevel shown in the pic. I select it, select a cutter, and tell it to rough it in. It generates cuts over the...
Svenakela - that's great advice. I do mostly wood routing, but I do have a design for a guitar bridge in aluminum that I will eventually get to.
Rodent - I recently discovered layers in Rhino and...
Thanks guys - I'll try and figure out what you said... Sorry, I'm a total newbie to both Rhino and MadCAM.
Can you walk us through how you develop your model in Rhino in order to use MadCAM? I start with outlines generated in Autocad, import them into Rhino, offset them, generate the pockets and such,...
I am unable to locate any demos that show the user interface. For me the UI is important because if it isn't easy to use then it is useless. The demo disk they send you just show the work. Anyone...
Not to sound like a real dweeb, but when you tell it to move 10, is that inches or MMs?
When you are posting a reply, I believe you click the paper-clip symbol next to the little smiley-face and put the file in there.
I'm playing with it right now and it will load the example files in Rhino3D format, but I can't get it to load my files. I will email them and see what's going on. Probably have to save-as in an...
Hey Deav - I'm pretty sure the LazyCam only does 2D+, not 3D. There is a free version of Freemill available. I have downloaded it and plan to try it out today.
Mammoth - Can you post the DXF so we can look at it?
Hi Kevin - I downloaded your DXF and got it to work by the following steps:
1 - Run the Autoclean tool under "TOOLS"
2 - Click on the outline object
3 - Make sure you click the "Create Islands"...
There is another product I found but have not used made by a company named SUMWIN in China. I would really like to know how well it works because it has the breakout box built in.
I saw the extrusions on EBay but didn't find the right one. I'll have to look again.
I have a 24" x 36" table and I want to upgrade it. I has some backlash on one side of the long axis and I want to replace the lead nut but I don't know what the rod dimensions are. I'm away from my...
