The cables are the standard 3M long that come with the kit.
I did not get to do anything with it last night. I may have some time today to experiment.
That's how they came from DMM....
Here is a Pic from when I started wiring them.
ok, Thanks for the information. I'll have to wait a bit till this mill starts paying for it's self before I order that board. I will just leave my DRO hooked up for when I need manual mode right now....
Yeah that's what I thought. My hangup is how do I get the signals from J5 into Mach so they play nice together? My relay disables the motor but the drives stay on so that part is right.
I was wanting to use the encoder feedback so I could manually operate the machine using the Mach3 display. This would also allow me to remove all my glass scales and DRO. I already have a relay setup...
On the T1 connector. A= Blue, B=Red, C=Black. The green/yellow wire goes to common ground.
Archie,
There is a section in Machs' ports and pics for Encoder inputs. The Dyn4 drives have the outputs on JP5. I figured there had to be some way to wire it up.
I am just about done working...
I would love to see your setup.
The wires are all pre terminated at DMM They had me check the wiring as well. They are color coded
I played with the mill for about 3 hours tonight and could not get the problem to present it's self. I was even running the program that caused it. I was cutting steel whereas I was using aluminum...
I'll try and play with it tonight and see if I can come up with anything. Hopefully I can get it to go into e-stop and see if grounding solves the issue.
The 3 PH power for the spindle is coming...
If this were a limit switch issue, Mach would be throwing a limit switch error. This is a general e-stop.
I doubt there is an issue with line noise as my Laser is on the same breaker and has no...
The trigger is random but when it happens it is repeatable like I showed in the video. I'll try to relocate some of the wiring.
What I don't understand is why applying pressure to the handle makes...
Well, here is an update. I have the gearbox and pulley system installed and now I have tons of power on the Z. I drilled through 3/8" a36 steel like butter whereas I could barely mark it before. The...
I don't know what a PID Value is or if that is something I can change. every motor I have tried acts the same even on different drives. I am wondering if there is something in the firmware that is...
I asked DMM about this and they said there is not an error for over torque. They said that pretty much if it over torques it overheats and throws that error.
I have tried well over a dozen...
The max rpm at the gearbox input should be 1250rpm. The DC motor that the gearbox came from was 2500 rpm so it should be fine.
I did not size any of the motors, DMM did all the sizing based on the...
Even using the pulley system I should have up to 110 ipm max out of the Z. That will be more than I ever use on this mill.
I am just hoping it has enough A$$ to do something.
I can not remember what the steps were, they are all messed up now.
Why is the 500 best for the electronic gearing? I believe my XY are set at 2048 right now. Should I change them? those axis are...
Due to the configuration of the gearbox and how everything mounts, it is much easier to use the pulleys. I have the 18 tooth installed on the large 1.3 kw servo right now but its bore is too large...
Mac,
I thought I had replied last night but I see this morning that it did not post.
When I talked to flash cut they said they used a 18 and 36 tooth gear on there setup. that's where I got...
William,
Thanks for the in depth reply.
I have asked DMM why there is an overheat error and they have not found a solution yet.
As for troubleshooting, I have tried 3 different motors,...
The smaller motor I have is a NEMA 34 size
Any ideas for a different pulley or gear reduction system that wont cost me my soul?
Still trying to figure this out. Here are 2 videos showing what's happening. Note: the DRO in mach is not calibrated in the video.

Yes I am driving the worm. I can move the pulley with one finger as well so binding is not an issue. I am really stumped by this, as is DMM.
It is not disassembled but yes, it is disengaged. The z axis can be moved with one finger through the motions.
Ben,
Yes, I am connected to the down feed worm drive as they show. My quill can be moved by one finger in "manual" mode so there is not a drag issue.
Attached are some pics of my setup. These...
Thanks for the post. I understand what you are saying but most of the conversions ( see flashcut CNCs conversion they sell) is set up the same way mine is. My X and Y axis are set up similarly with...
