Re: Bridgeport Clone CNC Z Axis. Please help!

Well, That's fast! I have mine set up at a max of 35ipm right now and that is plenty fast enough for what I am doing. You absolutely had no issues drilling like I did. Heck, I had a 750 watt servo...

Re: Bridgeport Clone CNC Z Axis. Please help!

The cables are the standard 3M long that come with the kit.

I did not get to do anything with it last night. I may have some time today to experiment.

Re: Mach3, DMM servo Drive Encoder hookup

ok, Thanks for the information. I'll have to wait a bit till this mill starts paying for it's self before I order that board. I will just leave my DRO hooked up for when I need manual mode right now....

Re: Mach3, DMM servo Drive Encoder hookup

Yeah that's what I thought. My hangup is how do I get the signals from J5 into Mach so they play nice together? My relay disables the motor but the drives stay on so that part is right.

Re: Mach3, DMM servo Drive Encoder hookup

I was wanting to use the encoder feedback so I could manually operate the machine using the Mach3 display. This would also allow me to remove all my glass scales and DRO. I already have a relay setup...

On the T1 connector. A= Blue, B=Red, C=Black. The green/yellow wire goes to common ground.

Re: Mach3, DMM servo Drive Encoder hookup

    Archie,

There is a section in Machs' ports and pics for Encoder inputs. The Dyn4 drives have the outputs on JP5. I figured there had to be some way to wire it up.

I am just about done working...

I would love to see your setup.

The wires are all pre terminated at DMM They had me check the wiring as well. They are color coded

Re: Bridgeport Clone CNC Z Axis. Please help!

I played with the mill for about 3 hours tonight and could not get the problem to present it's self. I was even running the program that caused it. I was cutting steel whereas I was using aluminum...

Re: Bridgeport Clone CNC Z Axis. Please help!

I'll try and play with it tonight and see if I can come up with anything. Hopefully I can get it to go into e-stop and see if grounding solves the issue.

The 3 PH power for the spindle is coming...

Re: Bridgeport Clone CNC Z Axis. Please help!

If this were a limit switch issue, Mach would be throwing a limit switch error. This is a general e-stop.

I doubt there is an issue with line noise as my Laser is on the same breaker and has no...

Re: Bridgeport Clone CNC Z Axis. Please help!

The trigger is random but when it happens it is repeatable like I showed in the video. I'll try to relocate some of the wiring.

What I don't understand is why applying pressure to the handle makes...

Re: Bridgeport Clone CNC Z Axis. Please help!

I asked DMM about this and they said there is not an error for over torque. They said that pretty much if it over torques it overheats and throws that error.

I have tried well over a dozen...

Re: Bridgeport Clone CNC Z Axis. Please help!

The max rpm at the gearbox input should be 1250rpm. The DC motor that the gearbox came from was 2500 rpm so it should be fine.

I did not size any of the motors, DMM did all the sizing based on the...

Re: Bridgeport Clone CNC Z Axis. Please help!

Even using the pulley system I should have up to 110 ipm max out of the Z. That will be more than I ever use on this mill.

I am just hoping it has enough A$$ to do something.

Yes I am driving the worm. I can move the pulley with one finger as well so binding is not an issue. I am really stumped by this, as is DMM.
