I forgot to mention if you strategically place/angle these reference lines... it limits rotation.
Have you tried 5x revolution toolpaths? They are simultaneous 5 axis, but the 4th axis does most of the work, the 5th only moves a few degrees.
In 5x mode, I draw a "spindle line" and a...
I use notepad to edit my processed toolpaths. M9 is at end of program. I use find function for M9. I'll then erase all the ending commands of first program, paste next program.
I've strung...
I know this isn't the exact answer you're looking for... but I would use the g93 post for the toolpaths you want, then 94 post for those toolpaths. Then either run separately or combine files
Rhino 8 version seems to be available for download on Madcam website
Looking for post processor for machine listed above, or equivalent already listed in Madcams post list.
Thank you
This sometimes happens to me when I edit in 7.
When I see this happens, I just re-select surface, mesh and it works again
Thanks for reply!
How do you like R8? I've been working with meshes a lot more. Seems some features in R8 would speed up my work.
Does Madcam run inside Rhino8?
Can you draw "fake" surface so cutter stays in the area you want to cut?
Is your surface or mesh clean?
Cut link distance on cutter, try different settings. Tolerance on cutter, try...
When setting your XYZ right before post-processing, use something like 0,0,20.
It's another safe Z option separate from safe Z
That's a bad pic... it is just 2 rotary tables. A 8" and 6" that I made a table coming off 8". It's surprisingly sturdy and accurate in indexing

I've sped up both velocity and acceleration many times thinking this axis is going too slow and maybe losing track of other axis with same problem. So it's definitely not losing steps from going too...
I'm using final version of Mach3 on a A and B axis trunnion table.
If I machine in 3+2 indexed 5 axis the trunnion works as it should. If I run a 5x simultaneous program, my B axis is losing or...
I haven't attempted this yet.
Has anyone done this with Madcam? How are you doing it?
Is your origin and or cplane at Z zero? Try raising it to the depth you want your cutter to go
Sorry, 4th axis part. That doesn't apply. Madcam website there is an update for v carving
Do you have a negative value for your Z depth cut below the surface?
A trick I use. If your final toolpath is going to have .005" step over.... just use .100" or .050" until you can see it's what you want. Then recalculate toolpath to your final step over.
Second,...
Try different toolpath strategies. Boundary from curves
Rotate part 90 degrees. Then generate your toolpaths
What are you using to specify hole location?
Have you tried a point for location?
No advice or help?
Does anyone use c plane to view? Am I missing something?
I'm changing c plane to view in my perspective window. And doing all my work in the perspective window.
I noticed my top view, front, and right view still are in world top c plane.
Am I...
I had an earlier post about my post not working correctly. I'm taking that back now.
My parts are trying to cut inside of a tube. Hard to generate toolpaths for. Best way for me is to move Cplane...
Joakim made me a custom post for my machine, but it's not correct. Atleast I'm 99% sure it's the post. I'm not throwing him under the bus, he has helped... but it's just not right and he's been hard...
Madcam fixed me right up with this issue. Sent me a new file
Joakim is helping. I'm using inch, sounds like a metric code in the inch file somewhere
I have my 5 axis stl drawings saved to my machine.
They are not the correct scale when opened up in my simulator. Way too small.
How do I fix this
I need to space my spindle head out 4" from the column. Before I take mine apart, does anyone have the bolt dimensions for the head?
The end of the bolts that fit into the column slot... is it a...
