Hi
I'm trying to produce a spiral bevel gear and whilst I've cut the tooth profile i can only circular pattern 27 teeth out of the 40 I require.
What prevents this and how do i overcome it?
The...
I'm machining out the material between the spokes of a wheel using the profile feature as opposed to pocket in 2.5D as the latter takes significantly longer. However, using profiling the loose piece...
That seems to have done the trick. As with most of these problems the answer is obvious once revealed. There was a further problem which i'm sure your solution will resolve. Using Solidcam to...
I have just copied some modified gears onto a flash drive and copied them onto another computer running SW.
I save them to a new folder and build an assembly from them. All's well.
Close and...
Hi
I'm generating spur gears using the toolbox without and difficulty. The file, located in Solidworks Data - Copied Parts, is read only so i save it to my project file.
I then need to modify it...
I've opened another file in the post-procerror files "LinuxCNC.vmid" This opens as the attached but i can't find the spindle speed in this file....
Thenks for your reply.
In the post-processor files i've found a "LinuxCNC.vmid.backup" and a "LinuxCNC_bkp0vmid"
I opened these using free file viewer and found in both files the spindle speed set...

Posed same question on LinuxCNC site and got good lead.
I had to change the parallel cable, due to gender change on BOB, and the new cable was not fully populated.
Changed cable and all goes well.
I had my machine set-up with a DB25-1205 BOB running a 240V woodworking router and all was well except an occassional error with the z-axis limit switch.
I decided to change to a 3 phase motor...
Thanks for your reply and i've managed to get it working, at last!
I have connected an Huanyang VFD to a 3 phase spindle and it works well when controlled directly by the VFD. However, I'm having difficulty controlling it through LinuxCNC.
The BOB wiring is shown...
I'm sure the answer's simple but i can't find a way of setting a maximum to the tool step-over in a 2.5D pocket milling operation. There is the ability to set a minimum but i want to take gentler...
I've produced a curve using a spline in Solidworks and used SolidCam to machine the profile.
When machining the spline i noticed that that the machine "jerked" along the path; I use LinuxCNC...
Great. I've been thrashing around trying to find how to control it and your reply has sorted the problem.
Thanks
Hi
When i come to set up the levels for a milling operation the "start level" is pre-set and greyed out.
When i check the g-code it initially goes to a position set by this start level. I could...
I'm machining a 3D contour in wood and would like to conventionally mill it as opposed to climb milling but I can't see a way of doing this.
Is it possible?
Changed to the pocket option and this solved the problem with one of my other posts and allowed conventional milling.
Your reply was much appreciated.
Marvellous. Thanks for the reply which worked as you suggested. I was locked into the contour op and didn't thing laterally.

Thanks to you both. My brain must have gone to sleep.
I am using Linux CNC and have found some files in another post that allows me to post process the output of Solidcam to operate my machine.
However, i need to edit one or two things in the .gpp file...
Thanks. I'd read somewhere else that the Fanuc post-processor should be ok. I guess it just wouldn't run if it found some inconsistencies.
From what you say there isn't a generic post processor that...
I've been using Inventor HSM for my CAM activities and it's possible to post process the information to a format which is compatible with a generic Linux CNC machine.
In Solid CAM this generic set...
Just ordered a 23HS8404 with an impedance of 1.8mh and some 4 start 8mm lead screws.
I'll report back when re-assembled.
Thanks
It looks like new lead screws and motors; but that's life.
Andrew
Thanks for taking the time to read my lengthy post and as i wrote it i was drawn, sadly, to the same conclusion.
I think the machine is rigid enough but haven'measured it's stiffness and if...
