  1. Re: '99 Haas VF4, Fusion 360 program sends "Z over travel"

You are very close to cutting chips. Approach with caution. Would advise taking vises and fixtures off the table and practice with no tools until you fully understand the offsets.

    You said G54 and...
  2. Re: Haas VF-OE -- I/O PCB -- where do these connectors go???

    Paul,
Ask this question in the HAAS forum section on Practical Machinist website. There is a larger group of Haas owner operators there to help.

Re: Whats a good compressor for my situation?

Seems Harbor freight is getting a good rep these days with some of their tools and certainly their new line of tool boxes and carts.

Re: Whats a good compressor for my situation?

That is all good information and I appreciate every bit of it. I am told that the horsepower on a Haas was just a sales tool and doesn't even come within 50% of that claim.
    With that said, also...

Re: VM2 Z azis cover leak

Not sure what a VM2 looks like under the hood, but on a VF2 you get a good view of the leaky places below
Look at the 0:35 second mark and the 1:30 second mark for the side plates on the casting...
  8. Re: Incoming power voltage to my Haas causing power on issues

Your machine is not that sensitive and many times witchcraft is not the problem. Go thru and make sure every screw terminal is 'manly' tight. From the house to the garage to the breaker panel to the...

  12. Re: Inventor HSM Pro + Mach 3 POST G-CODE: Holes are coming out undersized

LOL, First thing I thought of too. But no, it ended up being a following error in the servo drives. Got it much closer with some blind luck tuning.
I said HSMworks, because I tried the trial version...

Poll: Re: Fusion 360 is hard to beat.

Understanding your investment in SW and even started out with Solidworks myself over 15+ years ago. It was neat. Opened my eyes to a new world.

Poll: Fusion 360 is hard to beat.

It is true that solidworks has gained a lot of ground throughout the last 10+ years. But Autodesk owns the HSM protion that Solidworks is using. Fusion 360 and AutoDesk Inventor HSM Pro have put both...

  16. Where to find HDF ?. Looking for HIGH DENSITY FIBERBOARD 3/4" or 20MM

Can't seem to find a source for 3/4" or 20MM HDF here in Dallas Texas area. (or anywhere)

I'm not a wood guy, but even I have heard of it. Just didn't think it was rare. Much less unobtainium.

  17. ESS .250" holes measure around .237" but a 1.00" hole comes out closer, around .997"

    HELP!

This is more of a question for the advanced users and tech guys. I believe it may have something to do with the internal workings of Ethernet smooth-stepper or perhaps even the Mach3.

  18. .250" hole measure .237" / 1.00" hole comes out around .998", both with .187 endmill.

    Thanks Ben.
  22. Re: Inventor HSM Pro + Mach 3 POST G-CODE: Holes are coming out undersized

    Jon,

I had my LOOKAHEAD set too low. That may have been the cause of the undersized holes using contouring.
Don't know for sure yet until I can run something similar but it helped in other areas...
