    Re: G71 stock removal cycle

I see 2 problems as posted. Block N10 has the letter O instead of number 0. X78 has 2 decimal points after it. I've never used G41/G42 so I don't know if there is a problem with that. I assume...

Re: Thread milling with live tooling

Sounds complicated. I've done a few Macro B programs, but nothing really tough. I enjoy that type of programming.

Re: Thread milling with live tooling

Came across this old thread while searching how to thread mill an NPT side port on a Doosan TT1800SY with a multi-form thread tool.

First let me mention that I've never programmed a mill....only...

Re: Doosan CNC lathe warm-up programs

Don't know the age of our TW20s, but they aren't spring chickens anymore.

This is the cut-off operation from the main spindle (left side).

Re: KITAGAWA CNC LATHE 8" CHUCK PROBLEM?

I didn't watch the videos and only skimmed through the posts. I gather from your post and pictures that you purchased an older lathe. I think Superman hit the nail on the head. Most of the guys in...

Re: Am i a cnc machinist?

metalmayhem gave you excellent advice. Our shop prints out the program for each job. At least they do for lathes which is what I program for. You should have a tooling list. Each operation should...
  9. Re: Is MasterCam ever going to fix the G76 canned threading cycle?

I can try whenever I remember and have the time while at work. I am the sole programmer for 27 lathes. We have lost 5 people since a year ago last December (4 since this past January) and another...
  10. Re: Is MasterCam ever going to fix the G76 canned threading cycle?

Version 9 if I remember correctly. Although I've used MasterCam since at least V6, I only used it before V9 to save myself some trig calculations. Otherwise I manually programmed.

    I use...
  11. Re: Is MasterCam ever going to fix the G76 canned threading cycle?

No thanks. G76 is much more versatile. If I need to control depth of each pass, I will use G32 so I can also use a compound infeed.....unless I don't want one, then G92 is okay. I'm thinking you...
  12. Re: Is MasterCam ever going to fix the G76 canned threading cycle?

No. Wouldn't know how. As I said in my first post, I reported it to our reseller. They communicated with the powers that be. Nothing ever got done about the problem.

    There have been...

    Re: G74 peck drilling

Wow. Cabin fever must be rampant. :) This is a 6 year old thread. The Hardinge 9135 program Al referred to was replaced by 9136 a long time ago. The OP couldn't use either because he didn't have...
  14. Re: Is MasterCam ever going to fix the G76 canned threading cycle?

Well.....that didn't go very far.
  15. Re: Lathe - long boring bar whacking turret after facing tool

I would try the Hardinge Safe Index programs, but the Moris weren't in my department. They are my responsibility now, but there are a few hundred programs using G53. I wouldn't want to confuse the...
  16. Re: Lathe - long boring bar whacking turret after facing tool

We use G53 to position the turret on our Mori-Seiki lathes. As far as I know G53 is a machine position and has no affect on G54-G59. At least least on our Moris. X and Z are always negative. This...
  17. Re: Is MasterCam ever going to fix the G76 canned threading cycle?

Try using a G76 to thread and re-thread. The only way the program will come out right is if you use a 0 degree compound infeed. In the initial thread operation, set the first pass to something like...
  18. Is MasterCam ever going to fix the G76 canned threading cycle?

We don't have the very latest update, but aren't too far behind. Threading cycles haven't worked correctly in many years. I believe it was back in V9 that our reseller tried to work with MasterCam...
  19. Re: Need help with NPT threads in Mastercam x9

No version of MC will do that thread that I know of. At least not in the normal way a thread is done. The 3/8 in. straight section is the killer. You probably could make a thread with zero lead-in...
  20. Re: How to update Machine/Control definitions from X4 to 2018?

Do you have a service contract? When MC went from V9 to V10, it became Windnows based....whatever that means. I can't answer your question, but I know some things can't be saved when upgrading. A...
  21. Re: Lathe - long boring bar whacking turret after facing tool

What lathe are you using? There should be more than one way to achieve the desired results. I adopted Hardinge's Safe Index programs for use on all our lathes that can use them. The set-up person...

    Re: CNC programmer

Wow. If I am looking at this thread correctly, it was first posted 5-1/2 years ago. Doubtful they are still looking for a programmer.
  23. Re: Hey, finally a section for one of my favorite lathes.

To find out if you have Macro B, go to MDI, type in #500=1.; Insert, cycle start. Should alarm if you don't have Macro B. Check #500. It should read 1.
  24. Re: Hey, finally a section for one of my favorite lathes.

A better belt helps a lot. Something that also helps out a lot is limiting the RPM to 5000 instead of running to the 6000 limit. Increases belt life significantly.
  25. Re: Hey, finally a section for one of my favorite lathes.

Haven't looked at a manual in years and don't know what you mean by a Y offset. I can check on it tomorrow. The Y-axis is only programmed to pick up the part and eject it. I leave the rapid move...

    Re: 1/2-14 NPT Programming

Wow. Old thread. The example I gave was for a Fanuc control. No Haas in the shop. .15 is a 2 revolution lead. Enough I suppose, but I prefer at least .3. Doubt you will see a difference in...
  27. Re: Need to know where to go to find good CNC Machinists!

And yet when I told a youngster from Michigan who wanted advise about getting started in the machining industry in another thread (might even have been on another forum) that my advice was to find...

SQT, never use the same work coordinates for both spindles. You can use whatever work coordinate you want to, but I would be consistent so as to limit confusion with the operators...or yourself. :)...
