    Re: Gib Adjustment

Wade, It takes time, lots of time. I suggest taking out the gibs "very carefully" to inspect and clean. I found all kinds of casting debris and rough edges that made my machine stall at certain...

Nice job! This is great, does this fan keep the motor as cool? Before/after pics of the wall & surface finish? We played with static balancing the fan, rubber damping the motor & mount and the V...

Re: How to access oil distributor under X axis?

Well, one of my 1100 S2 lines just blew out and can see all of the way oil pumped at the base of the stand. Make total sense why my coolant has always had a tint to it, not to mention would go bad...

    Re: Anodzing Help

As for a power supply, look up an Astron VS70 or the 35. They can be daisy chained for parts/racks that require more amps. For Ti anodizing you'll need more volts, but the Astrons work great for...

    Re: Anodzing Help

The caswell kits are a nice start, but I'd suggest making your own using the standard 12amps per sq ft setup. Building the acid tank is the most critical, but easy when you got guys to help. :) A...

Post a pic or video to help us understand what you're seeing (wall or face finish ?). I tightened every possible screw on my machine years back and my problems went away.

Don ever try tapping 6-32, 8-32 or 1/4-20 Titanium with that head ?
  10. Re: Using the passive probe to find the center of a rod???

You'd be wrapping the shim stock around the rods OD with just a tiny bit sticking up past the rods height, creating an ID around the part to be X&Y probed.

  12. Re: Using the passive probe to find the center of a rod???

Quick fix... Using a piece of shim stock cut almost to the same size OD, wrap that around the rod starting at 11 oclock and click probe X & Y after probing Z first. :) I prefer to hold it very...

Re: Broken tap removal from aluminum

Nice, think this is also used in gardening. Normally I use a 10% diluted mix of sulfuric acid to water. Where can I buy the stuff ?
  14. Re: Anyone have tried "mill2lathe" setup? converting Tormach to a CNC lathe

I made this a little over a year ago and has worked very well. 95% hand coded. If there's one thing I would have changed/used was the mitee bite uniforce clamps instead.

I've used 15% diluted sulfuric acid mix to remove taps in Titanium, 304 and some aluminum. Ti & SS I left overnight worked like a charm (through hole, plug the bottom with hot glue/wax). ...
