Thanks. I tore apart the head and it ended up that the pneumatic brake on the head was catching. I will probably still convert it over to direct drive as soon as I get the pulleys and belt.

Did you convert your machine to direct drive? I'm having some issues with the vari drive on my excello and I would like to do the conversion. My machine has the NMTB 40 spindle so i'm not sure if...
BTW, my Excello (which is marked as a 602 but is a lot different than others i have seen) has a completely different z axis than most of them i have seen. It came from the factory with ball screws...
The leak in mine ended up being from the z axis which has transmission fluid in it. I still have not taken it apart to try and fix it.

How much trouble was it converting to the timing belt? I have my machine running now with a VFD and am getting about 6k RPM in high gear (the VFD isn't maxed out but I'm afraid to push it any...
My Excello came from the factory with a gearbox for the z axis (which looks the same as on 605's that i have seen pictures of.) None of the manuals that I have mention anything about what...
I may switch it back to the servo's at some point later but i have it running now with the steppers. The machine did have resolvers on it but i had already installed 1000 line encoders (and had them...
Did you ever get your Excello running? I have one almost the same. The head does not pivot forward and it came from the factory (i think) with ball screws and pneumatic brake on the left side. Mine...
I ended up taking the lower cover off of the ball screw and then manually turned it until it came loose. It's working now. Thanks!
I have it connected to a Mesa 7i77 card. I
Does anyone know anything about the 20AVRA servo drives from Advanced Motion Controls? I'm trying to get them working on my machine and not having much luck (it's my first servo machine so it may...
Let me know how the conversion goes. I have an NT40 on my machine .
I originally planned on using encoders which is why i bought the Mesa 7i77. I didn't realize that the Micron's were resolvers rather than encoders. I also purchased the AMC 20a20's. The servo's...
Thanks! What should i look for? 1000 ppr, anything else? The current encoders have 3/8" shaft (as does the shaft on the back of the servo's.) The Servos have tach's on them now, should I remove...
I'm trying to get an old ExCello mill converted to Linuxcnc but i'm having problems with the the encoders/resolvers (I originally thought they were encoders, they appear to be resolvers.) Does...
My Excello came with Micron transducers but i'm not sure of how to hook them up. They have 4 wires which i assume are data wires and 2 more that i think are the power (not sure what voltage.) ...
Do you know if the AMC 2AVRA amps on ebay will work? I was told they are a modified 20a20 but AMC won't give me any information. They are going for cheap right now ($19)
Thanks,
Dan
I just tried out the 3 axis with the westamp servos and y and z seem to work but x stalls. I'm not sending any commands, just turning on the system and don't have them disabled. Would this be an...
I'm going to give the westamp drivers a try and if they don't work i'll take your advice and pickup some of the AMC's on Ebay. Is there a manual with tuning info available that you know of?
...
It's an Osborne transformer and it says 62-68V. It's the transformer that was originally on the machine.
Thanks! The guy i bought the system from said the westamp should be good so i'll go ahead and order the 7i77.
Thanks!
Would these work? Advanced Motion Controls Brush Type PWM Servo Amplifier | eBay
I originally posted this in the LinuxCNC forum, maybe this one will have better luck in getting a response.
I just purchased an Excello mill in good condition with all the servo's, tachs, position...
I just purchased an Excello mill in good condition with all the servo's, tachs, position transducers, etc. It originally had a Bendix controller on it but that failed and the machine has been idle...
I just got a 602 that originally had the bendix/westamp cnc setup on it. It doesn't have the computer any more but it came with a ton of blueprints for Excello's including one for the 603 that has...
I have some used NSK ballscrews and i was thinking of using them in either a 3d printer or a small cnc router. I measured them and it looks like they are 10mm per turn. The part number is: ...
I'm just learning Rhino and having a problem with something that looks like it should be easy. I extruded the headstock of a guitar and am trying to slice it with another plane to get the correct...
Did you change the neck tenon or build it like it is on fabitrabbit.com (with the angle on the neck rather than the body? Is there any disadvantage to doing the angle on the neck and making the body...
I've been having pretty good luck by cutting 1/2 dowel holes in corners of the spoil board and also in the workpiece. I have been cutting out guitar bodies nad necks and it works real well. I don't...
I'd be interested in the files as well if they are still available.
