Hello

Hi
we have an old (1980's) Toshiba Vmc-8 with a tosnuc 600M pendant-control
We also use a HAAS HRT 310-B CNC indexing head on this machine the indexing head is operated manually using the M90...
Hi
I like it just fine you need to keep things in perspective though it's no master cam that's for sure
Dan there is indeed a red LED light on on the servo board I don't have access to the controller guts today but I have had a look inside. If my recollection is correct it is the third or fourth led...
Hello
I work at a College in Victoria BC Canada we have a small CNC mill a Mori Seiki MV Junior with a FANUC M 10 controller. Recently one of our students encountered a problem while operating...
Thanks for the compliment Mike. I wanted people to see that drawer slides are a viable way of providing linear motion inexpensively. In order to over come some of the flex problems with drawer slides...
Hi Jestah
I'm A Canadian Builder so I can give some advice but a phone call might be hard :) The Geko pin outs relate to power in and motor out stuff and one in put for the current limit resistor....
Hello All
Looks like we have all the talent we need to get started. Why don't we set a meeting time or times were we can chat to sort out details? I might not make it to some as it appears I live...
Hello All
I live on Vancouver Island. I have built 5 CNC machines to date and am designing a commercial CNC router right now. I would love to help you design a low cost router. I own Alibre expert...
I have been following this thread for a while now. Most of the talk has been about steel aluminum or mdf. How about good quality baltic birch plywood? or a machine made with mulitiple materials? For...
Hello All
I've had a quick read of this forum. I think it's a blast I enjoy doing exactly what you are trying to do build a CNC machine as inexpensively as possible. Attached are a few pictures of...
Hi Interesting Idea. Instead of steppers you could use digital encoders which are designed for counting in steps per revolution. Some way to convert the motion of the arm into rotary motion would be...
I did and it works a charm. Thanks:cheers:
Hi I'm using VM 3.0 which I recieved with my copy of Alibre. I'm looking for a processor for Mach 3 or 2. I obviously can use another processor but I'm fussy and would like the correct one if it's...
Hi
Make sure the input pins for the home switches are correctly configured as home/limit switches.
Hi
I work at a BMW wrecker all we do is take apart old BMWs My advice is to go to the nearest Euro car wrecker and wait for them to toss a cracked M20 head usually they toss the valves with it....
Hi I've been reading the talk about drawer slides. I built a 3axis machine from a scanner an old raven dotmatrix printer and yes you guessed it drawerslides for the z axis with a dremel tool as the...
Hi All
Just to let you know I'm still here. I'm a mechanical engineering technologist who specialises in machine design (guess what kind) so I spent lots of time browsing through the site:wave:
Hi
It seems pretty ambitious to biuld a 5 axis machine but you only get to go round once. I am a mechanical engineering student and three of us recently completed a 3-axis CNC router with a huge...
Hi
I'm trying to mill a foam plug for a wood burning stove top casting. I have tried to mill a smaller model on two other machines each time I have had the same problem. I am using the Mach2 post...
Hi
I got to thinking about this step over issue and it may be the machine but I have tried complex 3D tool paths coded by Sprut CAM on to other machines than mine and we experienced the same step...
Thanks for the quick reply. The cutter is indeed moving about .1875 per pass it's a 3/16in ball nose so that seems to fit your description I'll look for ncplot and try it out.

Hi
I have a funny problem with Sprut CAM. I use a home built 3D router controlled by MACH 3 with open loop controls. I was trying to run a fairly complicated part
today and was baffled by the...
Well done. I hope you enjoy investigating the funtions of Master CAM.
Master CAM requires lots of input so try to be as meticulous as possible
when setting up your tool path parameters.
Have Fun
I would like to help but I use master CAM X and/or Sprut CAM
When and if you find time to try those two i'll try to make some time
Cheers
Sounds like your on the right track. Try to evaluate as many packages as you can stand to.
As far as Mach 3 goes I like it a lot I'm runnung 3 machines with it and have not had any trouble so far. I...
Hi
Sounds like you might want to do a little research into what CAM software is going to work for you. I don't think there is a CAM package out ther that is bullet proof yet some are easier to use...
Machinists and there kin are a very intelligent and eloquent bunch at least judging by the posts i've read so far. All this goes to demonstrate just how tough the task of governing large groups of...
Arrgghh not politics the stuff drives me crazy; as rational humans (i'm assuming here) we all sort of know governments are a necessary evil. They don't please anybody anytime but if you don't like...
Im watching this thread with some interest.
Using the formula supplied and the spec sheet of the motor supplied by you the value of the resistor is in the hundreds, no K suffix. Eletronics can be a...
