Thanks for the education Peter, glad I asked the question because I couldn't believe this automatic setting. I'm aware about emf and the problems it can create and I try to keep separate the runs of...
The dip switch combo I have only allows me to set the microsteps to 400, 800, 1600, 3200 etc so I will go with either 800 or 400.
If interested, the link to this driver user manual is here...
I'm not there yet but I want to set the switch on the drivers before installing them however the setting for microsteps I’m used to is in 1/2" 1/4" etc format and the manual for DM556T stepper driver...
Thanks Peter, good to know

The controls cabinet for my cnc is a separate cabinet on casters and all connections for the 4 steppers and related limits from the cnc to the cabinet will be made with these disconnects. Do you see...
I don’t think you can find on the Web the good quality of wire you are talking about Craig. Hopefully I will find what I want closer to home

Thanks for your time, looks like it's not a good idea to buy cables online unless I know the source which I don't. Will try to find locally even in another town.
Nicolas
The store I used to buy my cables is gone now so I have to source my cables from the Web. Most say "Tinned Copper Wire". Obviously I want my cables to be copper and not aluminum but what is "Tinned...
I don’t have the separators for the DIN Terminals type I’m using. I will have 4 groups of terminals, 120VAC, 48VDC, 24VDC and 12VDC and each group will be spaced apart. Is it ok to use electrical...
Very good information Peter, many thanks

Nice looking panel you got there Peter. Regarding the location of the PSU I understand. I have 2 PSU each 48VDC, 7.3A which came from the stepperonline kit I bought and each has a cooling fan + I...
Starting work on my control panel for my new cnc and I remember reading the PSU (power supply units) should be located at the top or bottom of a control panel but I don’t remember which one is the...
Forgot to mention the set came with 2 PSU each 48VDC, 7.3A. Why supply 2 PSU instead of 1 48VDC 12A? Is it less expensive or perhaps another reason?
To share my experience, I order from

4 motors, drivers + PSU and just received them today. They were...
Thank you Craig

Thank you Craig for the help, happy to know there is no difference but I just remember another possible problem.
The ball screws I will buy now are for the Y and X axis. For the Z axis I plan to...
I know you guys are knowledgeable on this subject but I post a new thread on this link regarding the balls screws selection. If you have a chance to give me your thoughts.

All cnc table top mills I built before they were with RM1610 ball screws single start with 10mm lead. The guy I used to buy these screws closed shop and so I had to find a new supplier...
You are right Peter, Amazon.ca has it from many places but it cost more cause they include the 2 required cables. Maker Store it says USB cable not included but they say nothing about the printer...
Good link Peter, thanks. It only cost $12.00 and they have the users guide too however I already bought one from Makers Store cost me about CAD$ 35.00, shipping was the killer, lol. I must say the...
I was too fast to answer your email Peter, just got the email below from AU. Kind of expensive the shipping but I will go ahead and see
Hi,
Thanks for getting in touch!
Sounds like a great...
Thanks Peter, you are like a library full of information. lol
I checked the USA store but they only have the expensive motion controllers. I will wait to see the answer from AU and take it from...
Many thanks Peter, I liked the 5 axis cnc BOB from the Makers store and send them an email to find out if they can ship to Canada.
Perhaps the shipping would be more expensive than the item but I...
Hey peteeng, a question for you. I'm looking for a BOB (breakout board) with parallel port and at least one relay. I know this kind of board is old school but I have XP and Mach3 and I'm happy with...
Thanks for your time Craig

Each sensors has 3 conductors, what kind cable are you using to connect them to your control card? I don't know of any cable with 3 conductors. Does it have to be shielded cable?
I can see...
Thank you for the help peteeng, your idea about the Z sound a good solution

Trying to select the stepper motors for my new 3 axis 4 motors cnc mill which I build with 3/8” thick aluminum flat bars/plate (I will use 2 motors for the Y/A axis). I already have a PSU unit for...
It will not work that way. The Z axis moves up/dn and the X axis moved left/right and it may hit the sensor. But at least is one option. I'm about 20% building the new machine and the stage to do the...
