Here is the test results of using paint to resist etch. Worked out great! Now, to figure out if an inexpensive laser would work to burn away the black paint... or what other method would be used?

I did last night, it works great. A lighter weight copper board will prevent undercut. The etch I did looks pretty impressive. I put Scotch tape across a board, two light coats of Duplicolor flat...
Soooo.... Pinch my nipple, I dont think this is going to materialize, and what a shame... sounds like exactly what I need to burn paint off my PCBs for chemical etching.
Shoot dang it-
Andrew
I am interested in doing the same thing, burn away the paint with a laser and then chemical etch a PCB.
Anyone been able to get this to work as of yet?
Andrew
Yup, Nitty Gritty is my middle two names. :D
BTW, I just uploaded a _BUNCH_ of new PDFs in that directory you may want to take another peek...
My learning curve is seriously coming up real...
MM, thanks for the help! Yes, I can program the LTP port, I built a little par. interface for the Commodore-64 a long time ago. :D All it did was cut on LEDs but I remember what I did.
I also...
Where do I get the "DXF Viewer" you speak of to view and delete the splash??
Thanks,
Andrew
Actually, I program in VB or VB.NET, but your tracking-
The page on the stepper motors was very informative also.
I am still trying to get down to the nitty gritty-
On page 2 of the PDF I...
Matt,
Many thanks my friend, that has been VERY helpful! I understand much better.
Here is the controller I just bought:

Thanks,...
Your replies were informative. However, let me reword the question for what I am looking for-
Lets say I am running Mach3 which communicates with a controller board by parallel cable and sends...
Thanks for the tip!
It was an OMG moment-
OMG, they really ARE skate bearings!!
HA HA HA!
Thanks agn-
I FOUND THEM!

Large variety and inexpensive.
Andrew
I am still new at this, so bear with me.
I ordered the servo controller for my upcoming mill that I am building- It uses the parallel port (LPT) of the computer to receive information.
Say, I...
I am using DipTrace now, and it exports proper DXF files. However, I do not see the traces.
When I export Gerber files, the traces are there.
The two things I want to try:
1) Isolation...
I think Ive seen them referred to as "skate bearings", they are the metal wheels with I suspect ball bearing hubs used for the axis slide.
I am still new, so I hope I am using "proper" terminology...
Very cool!
Thanks for posting-
Andrew
Okay, Ive done some reading and research- Pad2Pad and ExpressPCB software will NOT do what I want, that is- export anything worth using.
I am using DipTrace (need some help with that by the way, I...
Thanks- I have PDF Creator, so I can export to BMP, JPEG, PDF, PS, EPS and I think a few others.
Do you have experience (link?) with any inexpensive (less than $50) solutions??
As always,...
I looked for the spindle on ebay but couldnt find one, would you be able to post a link to one please? The only ones I saw ere pretty high dollar.
Thanks for the tip on the Roto. I *think* it...

and here:...
Which inexpensive tool has the better shaft runout? Im not putting a man on the moon here... but I always look at quality before I buy.
Thanks-
Andrew
I just ordered a nice 3 axis controller for $90, and an 8amp 24v power supply for $40!
I already have two steppers on the way, thought I kind of anticipate they will be too small for the size...
I should mention, I tried Eagle, too complex for silly me to figure out. I can get productive right away in Express or Pad, if you can help me with either of these two that is my primary objective....
I am using either/both (whichever ends up working for me) Pad2Pad and ExpressPCB.
Both have the ability to export DXF.
Pad2Pad: On export, the only thing you get is the board outline, NO PADS...
