Re: High Power UHU Thread (HP.UHU)

I've personally tested my HP-UHU with a 160VDC supply and I'm running them with 130VDC (though they haven't been used much to be honest) so your 120V motors should be fine from a voltage standpoint....

Servo module for UHU based drives now available.

    Hi everyone,
I'm starting this thread in an effort to make anyone concidering the HP-UHU, or any other UHU based drive for that matter, aware of that the servo processor module is now officially out...

    Hi,
There are bypass capacitor across the supply rail very close to both ICs on the PCB if that's what you're worried about. If that's not it then I'm afraid you need to elaborate a bit more about...

    Hi,
I can't give you any "real" numbers for size 20 or 25 taper tools. What I did find when designing the spindle was that one manufacturer claimed 3900N while another 5500N for a size 30 taper....

    Hi Drools,
Normally the encoder has nothing to do with Mach3. Mach3 doesn't know the difference between steppers and servos - it only sends step and direction signals to the drive and IT drives the...

    Hi,
No, you can not run a brushless motor with an UHU based drive. The UHU based drives are meant to drive permanent magnet brushed DC motors (PMDC).

  13. Hi, The speed you'll be able to run the motor at...

    Hi,
The speed you'll be able to run the motor at is a function of the resolution of the encoder and the step rate that your controller (Mach3, EMC2 etc) is capable of outputting.

    If you have a...

I just read thru this thread and I think there's been a slight misunderstanding (or I've misunderstood).

    Hi,
    Lets see...

    (256*4) * (24/14) / 5 = 351.0857 steps/mm
    351.0857 * 25.4 = 8917.577 steps/inch

That's around 0.5% off from what you get which might be accounted for as pitch error of the...

    Oh, I didn't know that.

1 inch is 25.4mm, so if you have 200 steps/mm you have 200*25.4=5080steps/inch.

    Hi,
If the encoder is 250 counts then it would be 250/5 = 50 steps/unit. If the encoder is 250 lines resulting in 1000 counts then it would be 1000/5 = 200 steps/unit. (At 1:1 gearing)

    The kernel...
