I would like to say that having converted a chinese mill to cnc and if having my choice over I would built from scratch then convert. I think I would get what I...
Well there is some back and forth going on here.
As I was referring to a conversion and not a scratch build design, the length of my x axis was increase with the reshaping of the end bearing blocks...
This is how I mounted my two ordinary ball nuts on my x axis. The one on the left is clear of the mount and held tight with about 400kg force from some thick spring dome washers between the mounting...
I give this one a bump as I think down the same lines.
Be good to see if any of the brains trust here has any insite it to this idea.....
As Don said, the screw need to be close. That's why most use a C section with the screw in the middle of the C, rails either side.
I was thinking the same idea with the diagonal plate in the square...
When I am doing holes and need a good edge I use 2 profile cuts, the first cut is with a very small amount of stock and can have multiple step down cuts to get through, The a second profil cut at...

We are looking at building a new router and are try to work out the best axis drives for it. So we have a spread sheet that gives us the outcomes with varying inputs but we would like to verifier it...
Here a pic of when we where doing the set up. Look nothing like it now all closed in and a new head has been made for a new spindle.
I have put a red line to show the wire from head to air ram, half...
On the software side consider emc2 over mach... being free gives it a lot of points in the starting blocks.
I used it for the last couple of years and never had a problem.
Just my $0.02.

Hi
We look at using gas spring and decided against it because of the problem you are having. We now use a air spring and it total adjustable, got it to a point with the screw disconnected one could...
The part look very neat. Can you give some dimension so we can get some idea of scale.
With the small air bubble you could of used a vibrator like in the concrete industry. Hind sight is a wonderful...
Hope there can help you out Lucky there near by. I found the delivery cost high.
The head on our machine is a composite that we made ourself. To old one was heavy and spun to slowly. Think about...
It's looking good. I am very interested... think of doing one myself
