Re: CRP4896 Upgrade - Laser sight attachment

That's pretty cool how the line lasers are placed along the x and y axis. Most setups I've seen are offset from the axis, and require a specific height from the piece being cut to center the bit. ...

    Re: Routing Plastic

Aye yae yae, a power factor of 60% is pretty bad, I think. For single phase loads. I'm a mechanic by trade, so please correct me if I am wrong. But what I've typically seen in the field is ratings...
  3. Re: Finished New Build (48X96) Need help on setting up the makers guide.

Pins 3 and 4 on the connector are different than pin 9 on your board. Pin 9 on your board is the actual sensed input, the pin that gets taken either high or low when the connection is made. Pins 3...

    Re: PRO CNC 2016 Revision

Definitely looks like an improvement! My v-rail system is turning and burning though, no need to change it out now.

    My NEXT machine though... :)

    Re: Ordering Pro 4824

Nice! Yeah, those are noticeably shorter than the ones on mine. I have to have them flipped or else I can't mount the bumpers.

    Re: Ordering Pro 4824

You probably flipped them because the rails are longer than the gantry, at least on the 4 x 8. I'm actually contemplating grinding down the rails so I can have both bumpers on the bottom.
  7. Re: Is it possible to connect the machine / Panel to an UPS in case of power loss?

Are you trying to power your vacuum with it as well? It sounds like it. I'm assuming your vacuum is powered through your control panel? Even a 1hp vacuum draws at least 750W - if you're trying to...

  11. Re: Removing pinion from CNCRouterParts.com rack and pinion drive unit

I checked mine, and it looks like it's one piece. Might be easier to try to change the gearing on the other end to match what you want?

    Re: CRP PRO4896 NEMA 34

Excellent work! Things are looking good!

Something to keep in mind - I think this weekend I am going to go ahead and run the touch Z probe wiring through the cable trays - I may have to extend it...

    Re: CRP PRO4896 NEMA 34

And then let the madness begin. I'm quickly learning a lot about different woods. Zebrawood looks awesome, but it warps like a bastard. I'm bummed because I cut a bunch of stuff out of it last...

Re: CRP PRO4896 NEMA 34 in San Dizzle

Wow, that's actually pretty drastic. Speeding the bit up caused the Z to drop?

I did a bunch of cutting this weekend - made a tic-tac-toe set out of zebrawood and some purpleheart, came out...

    Re: CRP PRO4896 NEMA 34

Yeah, I should have done this. I have the 'front' up, and the back down. I'm going to end up grinding / cutting off a small portion of the lower rail on each side so I can flip both sets down. ...
  16. Re: New CNCRP PRO 4896 with 2.2KW spindle, welded base.

On the hardened rails, it took me a bit, but I got them to the point where there's almost zero audible tick when the gantry moves over the splice. I ordered some extra v-con clamps and put them...

    Re: CRP PRO4896 NEMA 34

It's funny how small the gantry extrusion looks on your table. In reality, the thing is a large chunk of aluminum. I was really surprised when I unboxed it!
  18. Re: New CNCRP PRO 4896 with 2.2KW spindle, welded base.

Looking good! Things really start to fly once you get the base all completed and squared up. Your base is pretty amazing.

I hear you about the v-con mount thing. I ended up ordering a few more...

    Re: CRP PRO4896 NEMA 34

If you're planning on using the cable track kit, you can mount that on either side. I figured out which side I wanted to mount the cable track on, and then mounted my electronics there. If you're...

    Re: CRP PRO4896 NEMA 34

That base is beefy. Looks good. I'm using the steel leg kit, and I'm surprised how sturdy that is, it doesn't move at all when I'm running the gantry all over the place. From the looks of it, your...

Re: CRP PRO4896 NEMA 34 in San Dizzle

Heh, I'll have to definitely keep that in mind. I've ordered a couple of higher quality bits, I think. By higher quality, it just means they are more expensive than the 10 for $10 specials I picked...

Re: CRP PRO4896 NEMA 34 in San Dizzle

Yeah, I did a rough pass with a .25" end mill, and then finished it with a .125" ball-nose. I have a sneaking suspicion after going back and looking at it that the bit I bought for this is straight...

Re: CRP PRO4848 - Creatively Simple Build

Re: 23 Nema Electronics Kit and VFD Control

Re: 23 Nema Electronics Kit and VFD Control

You can definitely use the PWM output if there's one available - assuming your VFD has a 0-10vdc control signal input. I was using that with my kit, but switched to Modbus control as I was able to...
