The whole vfd is in a plastic case, so it should be alright, atleast no danger for myself if i ground...

My point with separating the gentry into 2 parts are to make it easier to assembly and to probably it is cheaper to machine out 2 pcs from the same plate size what i use everywhere, than make them...
