  1. Speeds, Feeds, and Strategies for Bench Top Mills

Seeing as this area is specifically for bench top mills, generally meaning small to mid range bench top mills in the posts I see, I figured I'd probably be best off asking for S&F's around here....

It sounds to me like you have the polarity reversed on a pair of wires.

    Re: Leadshine Mx4660 Help

OP, if you are doing coolant avoid the style like the red sensors in your link. They aren't sealed, and the plastic doesn't do will will coolant. They become brittle and literally fall apart after a...
  4. Re: Super Fly (Mostly Good) but doesn't plunge well.

Oh boy, I bought it quite a long time back. I know it uses this insert; rpmw1003mo.

    Yes the inserts are round.

The shell came with name brand inserts, but I've been running Chinese knockoffs...
  5. Re: Super Fly (Mostly Good) but doesn't plunge well.

I don't know the specs on the Tormach, but I run a 2.2kw BLDC. They say it's almost 3hp, but I run my spindle 1:1, so while I might be HP rich I am definitely sacrificing torque. I can run that 2"...
  6. Re: Super Fly (Mostly Good) but doesn't plunge well.

Again, not a Tormach owner, but I have great luck with a 2" 4 flute round insert shell mill on aluminum. It bolted right to a TTS ATC holder of some variety, I can't recall which, but somebody here...

    Re: Tormach automatic oiler ebay

What I should do is set M7 to run my automatically oiler, then just change the screenset to reflect oil instead of mist. It would allow me to turn the oil on and off via GUI, then I would just have...

    Re: Tormach automatic oiler ebay

I have one on my G0704. I quite like it. Last night I ran a program that was more than four hours long. Rather than sit around and watch the machine hum I went to bed. I have the pump set to 1cc...
  9. Re: PM25MV - Looking for quality Spindle Bearing Replacements

I dont have a PM25 but rather a G0704. I've been through my fair of spindle bearings, but VXB.com has a wide variety and their shipping times are usually pretty minimal. I'm sure that whatever size...

Is only the X that's changed? Maybe Procut would work with you on an updated kit?

    Re: PM-25MV conversion

I agree, the limit switches and mounts are kind of the hardest part. Op, you should do a charge back.

    Re: DAMAGED NEMA 34 !!!

I'd clean up the dings and use it.

I'd also want some sort of refund, likely a partial refund. Shipping it back seems silly, especially if it still works.

Re: PCNC 1100 Series 1 now what?

Just run the thing. Why mess around with upgrades when it probably works just fine? Once you find a need for an upgrade, then do it.
  14. Re: Constant issues with mach 4... alternatives?

UCCNC, you'll need a compatible motion controller (UC300eth-5lpt is my preference), but that just means getting rid of your ESS. Not that the ESS is the problem. Cost to convert isn't all that much,...

    Re: 1100M Spontaneous Chatter

I'm not on a Tormach, but I experienced similar issues when my spindle bearings were under torqued. Absolutely nasty results, inconsistent, and confusing at best.

    Re: Chris' G0704 build

Good to hear you got back on track! Mach 4 cranked my spindle up one time with my touch probe in the spindle. Not cool, and I haven't used Mach 4 since. With Mach 3 or UCCNC I've never had the same...

    Re: Chatter in corners

If you are cutting a 1/4" radius with a 1/4" end mill it will chatter. You should reduce your end mill size by a step or two.

    Re: New guy needing advice

Will do! I wonder what the force of the Tormach passive probe is? I know my Renishaw certainly has less force via calibrated elbow, but it's also a very large probe for a G0704 so I tend not to use...

    Re: New guy needing advice

I use the wild horse probe very successfully as a tool height setter.

I don’t recommend it as a touch probe though. It required constant adjustment as a probe for some reason. It’s fairly stable...

    Re: New guy needing advice

That's a good piece of advise. I'd probably spend my extra cash on tools and a touch probe or two. Touch probes are invaluable in my setup process, it reduced setup time drastically. Having a spare...

    Re: New guy needing advice

My two 4" Shars vises were very close to each other when I spec'd them on my surface plate. It doesn't really matter for my work. When I have two vises on the table I'm generally doing two parts with...

    Re: G0704 Tapered Bearing Upgrade

Why would the manufacturer make the claim? You expecting a Grizzly technician to come out and spec the spindle? The thing costs $700.

I’ve had two spindles and they were damn near identical....

    Re: New guy needing advice

I built my G0704 PDB for like $400. No matter your choice in new machine, make the leap to a PDB on your G0704. You'll also have to adopt TTS, but you'll have that already assuming you buy a 770.

Yeah, it's funny that the mill is so underwhelming (even for education purposes), but obviously the point of this is to learn the control, not make parts for customers. So in that regard, it makes...

Many pendants are USB, Xbox included.

You can wire those switches to a single input too.
