Re: My solution for the computer switch

I was thinking more along these lines:

    451422

Just a quick 3D printed cover hinged at the top (doesn't look too pretty but its just a quick prototype), but then you wouldn't have had an excuse...

  3. Re: Anyone ever seen a R8 collet ground this way?

Hi John, that's very interesting. That would certainly explain away the brass coloured cap. I'll take a closer look tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

Not enough to break the bank! The money...
  4. Re: Anyone ever seen a R8 collet ground this way?

How do you know what I've done during these 2 days? You must be psychic, but then you would know that I've already sent these photos to the seller.

At least I've given you something to complain...
  5. Re: Anyone ever seen a R8 collet ground this way?

Hi John: Thanks, I appreciate the offer. However, I'm looking for a 20mm collet, not a 3/4 and I confused Lyndex with Vertex. I saw that Rotogrip no longer has any 20mm Crawford collets on stock but...
  6. Re: Anyone ever seen a R8 collet ground this way?

Well as I mentioned that the flats on the taper were not the only disconcerting issues. None of these individual issues are critical but all together this is not what I expect when I buy a NEW "Ultra...
  7. Re: Anyone ever seen a R8 collet ground this way?

Hi John: I already have some items in my rotragrip cart - thanks for the tip!

Mike: interesting. I'll probably order Lyndex and find out. The collet I photographed is probably ok to use but I...
  8. Re: Anyone ever seen a R8 collet ground this way?

@Mike: You don't need to persuade me that I need to buy a lathe (but don't stop trying). It's a question of space, my workshop is really, really small. I've seen the pinching you mention but I'm...
  9. Re: Anyone ever seen a R8 collet ground this way?

It looks fairly consistent but not consistent enough to have been done automatically. The whole collet is just a bag of worms. I wanted to improve on a cheap Chinese version, well that's another...
  10. Anyone ever seen a R8 collet ground this way?

I just received a "brand new" R8 collet for some mill-turning on my 1100. It actually looks very used to me for several reasons. I'm not quite sure about one of these issues as the only R8 collets...

  12. Re: Looking for help with tapping steel with 1100 and Tormach Tension/Comp head

You'll almost certainly run into problems using a standard hand tap - they aren't able to clear the chips. I think you're probably thinking in the direction of a machine tap. I suspect that, and...

    Re: New Fusion 360 limitations

So if you received a one year subscription, presumably intended for commercial users because the hobby version didn't require any form of subscription, it was limited to one year, not more. This...

    Re: New Fusion 360 limitations

I never for one second assumed that there was any kind of dependency between Autodesk and Tormach. Tormach is just a small fish for Autodesk, they probably work much closer with a company like Haas....

I don't recall Tormach ever strapping on any version of Fusion with their machines. A post processor is available for (presumably) all their machines but the copyright, at least for the mill post...
  17. Re: Fusion 360 Reduces Functionality for hobby users

That's weird. I kept restarting Fusion yesterday and signing in/out but I couldn't identify any differences. I don't see the comment about the rapids in the code like you do. Tool changes are still...

    Re: New Fusion 360 limitations

I have just retired and just the numerous trips to the company coffee machine cost me far more than the 82 cents/day subscription costs (ok, provisionally $1.37/day after the 3 years are up). It's...

    Re: New Fusion 360 limitations
