    Re: Tool zero macro

I do not have to do any tool zero setting to establish work offsets. Perhaps I am not understanding the situation, or it is related to the ETS which I do not use. I power up the machine, release e...

    Re: Tool zero macro

Shouldn't you be able to touch any tool with defined offsets on the presetter until it trips then change the Z dro (not tool offset) to 0 and be done?

Re: 2020 x7 mill user input requested

I am still a little wary of the syntec control because I don't know the name and am concerned if it will be supported in 10 or 20 years. I emailed them and asked what other machines their controls...

Re: X7 accuracy measured with CMM

If you are taking requests I would be interested in seeing a walkthrough of getting chips out of the enclosure. washdown to the chip bin and removal of it. Too bad Syil didn't give you a deal on...

Re: 1100M vs. used Haas Mini Mill or TM-0

@ crispy. Sounds like you have a reasonable plan to me. You have a specific market with part size, material and tolerance required. You have money to put down and if you can afford the rest of a...
  7. thinking of selling my g0704, but for how much?

So this G0704 was my first metalworking machine and it ultimately led to me working full time in my own machining business. I did the Hoss phase one conversion a long time ago. I started doing the...

    left hand tapping on lathe

TLDR; just use conversational to program the thread then edit g code to change M3 to M4 and it works. G74 might be broken PP 2.8.0 and/or Tormch's instruction are incomplete or possibly wrong. Also...

Re: 1100M vs. used Haas Mini Mill or TM-0

If you are looking to buy a mill, and by that I mean you don't know what you are going to make, but you want to try something, I think Adam Savage gave sound advice (not word for word quote)" when...

I talked to Jeff for quite awhile last week. Sounds like one Chicago area, another near Ann Arbor. Either way, a couple hours drive from me.

Re: 2020 x7 mill user input requested

I think "influencer" discounts are pretty standard for many of the machine tool builders.
Jeff said they plan to have machines with LNC and Syntec controls at IMTS 2022 next year. Give him a call...

Re: 2020 x7 mill user input requested

I would lean towards siemens (fanuc is available too) for the above concerns. Siemens already has a lot of 808d controls out in the world. Siemens isn't a small company and not going away anytime...

    Re: Tormach 1100MX vs SYIL X7 2020

Looking forward to hearing info on both controls. The single phase option with the LNC is really interesting. I made a post in the Syil subforum asking for input about the machines...

2020 x7 mill user input requested

I am really interested in this machine, and would like to learn more. I personally feel it sits in the market exactly between the Tormach 1100mx and Haas MiniMill or TM0P. I feel that because the...

    Re: Tormach 1100MX vs SYIL X7 2020

@Kenny, that particular machine doesn't seem to be a great deal. The dealer is unlikely to put it under power unless I was serious, which I'm not yet. I need to do a lot more research before I...

    Re: Tormach 1100MX vs SYIL X7 2020

    Re: 770MX Spindle Keeps Stalling

3/8 diameter cutter is probably on the big side for a 770 in high belt. Have you tried low belt? In high belt you are going to sacrifice torque for rpm. 3/8 is the largest endmill I run on my...
