    Re: Macro programming help

I mean posting on cnczone. I'm doing a lot of posting (Mastercam) at work. We are always short-handed so I not only trouble shoot, but help set up occasionally. I'm the only programmer for 26...

    Re: Macro programming help

EDIT: Also deadlykitten I believe you work with Okuma controls. I may not have this flexibility with Fanuc controls. Afraid I haven't checked into this yet. Been swamped and it isn't looking any...
  3. Re: Using a live endmill instead of a trepan question.

Follow up because I know not everyone does. My original program didn't work. Had to go back to the G112 idea. Plunge in and contour. Worked great. Lot less work for the trepan tool. I didn't...
  4. Re: Using a live endmill instead of a trepan question.

Well...I sat down to write the program today. That is when I realized I didn't need to use G112/G12.1. Still had to feed to Z-depth before making the circle though.
  5. Re: Using a live endmill instead of a trepan question.

I know I can feed in Z and then make my circle cut using the G112/G12.1 method. What I don't have any idea how to do is ramp in Z-axis while making the circle cut. I don't think it is possible on a...
  6. Re: Cutting from Chuck toward Tailstock question?

I am not aware of an M-code on a Fanuc control that will ignore returning to the starting point when using its canned cycles. Please list the M-code so I can give it a try. Thanks.
  7. Using a live endmill instead of a trepan question.

I have a new lathe job to program that requires a fair amount of metal removal using a trepan tool. A core drill would do some of it, but we don't have one and wouldn't buy one. 2024-T4 aluminum. ...

    Re: Need Automatic Wear Offset

This kind of statement does not need brackets. I'm glad I came cross this thread. I use Macro B a lot. Many years ago I used G10 to keep track of daily parts made and total parts made for each job....

Re: G71 canned cycle type 2

Can I assume X-90. should be Z-90.? Change N40G0Z2. to N40X110, delete the G0Z2. and put the G0 on the line with Z20.M9.

I've only done G71 cycles with X-axis always going in the same direction...

    Re: Programing left hand thread.

Had to look up tolerances Online as I never did try to memorize thread specs. Way too much other chit on my mind. And easy to find the specs in the Machinery's Handbook.

    Major O.D. = .7500/.7406...
  11. Re: Cutting from Chuck toward Tailstock question?

What control is on your Haas? Nothing says a G74 peck cycle (on a Fanuc) for drilling or face grooves can't be used for turning. However, it will increase cycle time if that is important.

    I did...

    Re: Milling macros

Only 5 years too late to the party, but maybe a help for someone else. Get the book CNC Programming Using Fanuc Custom Macro B by S. K. Sinha. He does an excellent job of explaining Macro B...
  13. Re: Alarm 003 to many digits on Hardinge with 18-T

Yup. Line number at each operation. Line number if using GOTO statements. Otherwise a waste of memory and a pain to look at once used to not having them. Should note I only program lathes. Maybe...

    Re: New to the Okuma

Yes ours is an older lathe. Probably around 20 years old. 700 OSP control, I think. Like I said, renaming isn't hard. Just more to it. Fanuc: Edit mode, put cursor on file name, type in new...

    Re: New to the Okuma

I know next to nothing about Okuma lathes with Okuma controls, but this much I know....always rename the A1.MIN file so that A1.MIN is available for loading the next program. We only have one...

  17. Re: Fanuc 0i-TF+ G83 deep hole drill cycle can I, J, and K be used like on Haas contr

Or I could modify the program for you to input drill size and number of times drill diameter that you want the first peck to be. Then peck one drill diameter until the final depth. Of course the...
  18. Re: Fanuc 0i-TF+ G83 deep hole drill cycle can I, J, and K be used like on Haas contr

I've used the G80 series calls a little on our newer lathes that have that option, but I am nowhere near familiar enough with them to answer that question.

However, I have the G65P9136 deep drill...

I don't understand your problem. G1/G2 in the program you posted are fine. Are you saying you want a G1 on every consecutive straight line move and if you break a 180 degree arc into 4 sections,...

    Re: Doosan M91

We have an older Doosan Lynx (210LSY ?...not at work) and M91-M94 is available on that lathe. The last 3 Doosans list M91 through M94 as External Commands. I can't use them. I assume Doosan has...

Re: 3" Male NPT Single Point with G76

I noticed 2 things right away. R0005 should be R.0005 P's & Q's have no decimal points. R's do. The 2nd thing was thread height. P0373 is way too small. I've never done a pipe thread that...

    Tool Load Management

Want to take advantage of Doosan's TLM. Watched a video. Seems pretty easy, but the video didn't answer a few of my questions.

1: Approach and Escape time...is it set automatically or do I have...
  24. Re: Doosan Turning machine ejector engineering flaws

Our TT1800SY didn't hold sizes on the subspindle from day one. This was with aluminum. Main holds good, but have to keep an eye on subspindle close tolerances (+/-.002 if you can call that tight). ...

Re: Fanuc Lathe system T codes

There is such a thing as M6 on lathes. On our EMAGs it calls up coolant for O.D. tools. M8 is used for both internal tools and external tools so an O.D. tool can have both M8 and M6. On our...

Can't recall single pointing a 1/4 NPT in 303SS, but I have many times in 316SS and all I've got to say is it's one major pain. Personally I think it is a chip problem. No where for them to go. We...
